My Cat Is Having Trouble

Do any of you know how to help my cat with constipation? Her stool is very hard and she sometimes seems to be in quite a bit of pain. Sometimes it takes two or three trips to her box before she's finished. This is very uncomfortable for her. Do you have any suggestions for diet? Is there any way her enviornment would cause this (stress, perhaps)? Any suggestions you have would be most appreciated.

I know what your talking about because my pets sometimes go through this atleast a few times a month. I think it is because they are not drinking enough water for the amount of food they drink. I give my cat some tuna with oil in it and it helps her alot then I will mix her food with a chicken bouillion cube and some water and then cool and stir she loves it. And I also put out some milk becuase they tend to drink more liquid then. My dog though I give her some scraps and alot of water and the scraps have greases and oils from where I cooked so that seems to help them. It could also be the type of food you may be feeding your cat. I would add some water and a bouillion cube to make a little gravy in the food for the cat and it will be moist and less chances of getting constipation. I hope this helped.

The gravy mix with the chicken bouillion cube sounds like something to try. I do sometimes give her some oil from tuna but I don't very often. I'll keep you posted on how she's doing.

Does your cat feed on dry cat food only cause this can cause a constipation problem. If the cat is you might consider adding some wet food to their diet as i have found this to help with mine and make sure the cat is hydrated enough. If you dont feel they are getting enough liquid you may have to force some by a syringe to get it in the cat but you really should it does not hurt them even though they will protest. But if you try different things and still no change dont put off going to the vet cause if you wait to long you pet could develop more serious problems. Hope your kitty feels better soon.

I'm a little afraid of giving her wet food just now with all the tainted stuff that's out there and she seems to be drinking normally...hmmmmm. Thanks for your advice :)

I really don;t know you should consult the vet. But try to give her fish oil, perhaps sardines in the can it might help.

I am doing research on cats i think you must give her some milk to drink that will help her to reduce constipation,
