We've all heard about global warming/climate change, right? Well, I just watched Al Gore's documentry "An Inconvenient Truth" and I encourage everyone who can, to watch it as well.
His presentation is so clear, that it is impossible to misunderstand and the message is that we are now living with the results of years of ignoring the truth about our contribution to global warming and climate change...and it's only going to get worse unless we take action immediately.
What do you think about climate change? Is it real or something made up? Is humanity a real contributer to this or do you think it's just a natural process of the earth? Are you doing anything to help the enviornment or do you think "other" people are doing/have done enough?

I still don't buy into the whole humans are doing it themselves, we have to stop and fix it now. First, I don't think humans are the reason. Prediction models are not correct, yet they are used to scare people. The earth has had climate swings like this all teh time. I think the media hype is making it seem like a much bigger deal than it ever would have been before.
Second, who's to say we can stop it? If its natural or if we already screwed ourselves, why are we so arrogant to think we can destroy then fix the Earth?

I think that is what the documentary is trying to say, because it is more sympathetic that way. But to be honest, don't you see constant references and reports on global warming pseudoscience? Its everywhere. Right now Scientists that don't agree man influenced an increase in temperature are being fired and ridiculed for being skeptical about global warming, they are being silenced.
What about all the hubbub about our crazy hurricane season the US was supposed to have because of global warming? Then we didn't have any hurricanes hit the US and no one mentioned it. And now they predict another terrible hurricane season next year because of global warming, neglecting to mention they were wrong just the year earlier....

Admittedly, there's been alot of "buzz" about global warming. However, I think that's because of the urgency of the situation - we've got to get people to start paying attention.
As far as the inaccurate predictions of hurricains last year, my experience living on the east coast tells me that any weather is immpossible predict - it changes here every half hour or so on average. I don't see the warnings as anything other than making sure we are prepared for the worse.

It's true...the earth has gone through some major climate changes over its history. After watching Mr. Gore's documentry, however, I think the (mainstream) media is actually downplaying the immediate threat that climate change poses. We keep referring to how we must save the earth "for our children" but the truth is, we're going to not only save them, but our own lives as well.
If its natural, then the earth will take care of itself regardless of what we do. If we are a major contributor to the problem (which I think we are) then I think we have a responsiblilty to try and undo the damage we (humanity) have caused. Our arrogance is from our wanton distruction of the land over hundreds of years without thinking of possible consiquences.

the question is not is global warming an issue, it is the question should be, what are we doing about it. Each country has to pull its weight to stop it before gets gets unbearable, we are not hurting ourselves, but look at the world we are leaving for our children and grandchildren.

Actually, I think we are hurting ourselves because we are polluting the air we breath constantly. Additionaly, according to the documentry, in roughly 20 years, the icecaps on the Hemalayan mountains will be gone and people will no longer be fighting over religous reasons but instead, for water. That's why I say we are now living IN the consiquenses of our(humanity's) past actions.

According to view of scientists global warming can became a big issue in future, but we as human beings can reduce its chances if, we really have got pain for our future generation, so that they will not suffer because of us, we must take steps to reduce CO2 concentration in air by, planting trees, second thing is we must use fuels which does not lead pollution, and does not lead to increase in co2 concentration

Excellent suggestions for reducing cO2 concentrations. These are both very easy to do and there are many other "little" things each of us can do. One of the main contributors that is currently being addressed car idleing. If people reduce their idle time by 10 mins. a day, that would significantly help the cO2 problem.
