China and Switzerland have informed Palestinian officials they will deal with the new palenstinian unity goverment made up of the moderate Fatah movement and the Islamic militant Hamas group. Both nations said their policy had not changed, and both have dealth with Hamas in the past, bt the development appeared to reinforce a Palestinian effort to win recognition for their new goverment. Special envoys from the two countries met recently with Foreign Minister Ziad Abu AMr, who is not allied with either Palestianian party, and informed him of their decision to deal with the unity goverment "without any disciminiation between its members."
