How come Superman could stop bullets with his chest, but always ducked when someone threw a gun at him?

That's the lapse in script or direction. It is easiest way to find fault with the character of any filmed recently in the hollywood. The directors could not manage child psychology and character assumptions to match it and optimum results they seek. It can be found in every field of movie market.

If he is really 'Super', he is not characterized with any weaknesses. It should be creative like the people entry from his planet Cryptonite or so. Others should be equal to him in all measures.
