This is the first time for me that GW has ever impressed me in a positive way.

Although I am now Canadian, I have always been a dedicated voter. I voted in the US a couple times but nothing really major. I still watch to see in whom I would dare to put my trust and I will tell you without shyness that GW Bush would not have been my choice. He as never impressed me as sharp, or well informed or articulate. I totally disagree with his stand on leaving the troops overseas. I disagreed when he decided to send them there. I have never heard him speak a word that gave me any confidence that he knew what he was doing. Granted this man has about the hardest job in the world. His tasks and decisions are far from easy. In my time, though I have seen Presidents that did a much better job in what I would consider to be more stressful and demanding situations. Today I watched him speak on TV during the broadcasted portions of the memorial services at Virginia Tech. I was impressed that Katie Couric interviewed him after and for the very first time I saw a human side of him I have not seen before. He seemed sincere and gentle and kind. For once he was not clumsy and at a loss for words with a stupid grin on his face that usually hides nothing but his reasonable intelligence. I was convinced that he spoke so calmly and gently to the students, staff and families. For this I give him 5 stars. This was truly a difficult time for him to speak and be able to say the right thing. Bravo, Mr. President.

He did deserve 5 stars, he spoke as a human bring and a parent besides being a parent. At least that is how he came across to me.

I was really impressed too, they showed one of the mourners breaking up during the service. He was sitting near the President and both the President and the First Lady were quick to show their concern when the young man had to be assisted.

While I disagree with a lot of his policies, I do think our current president is wery good at dealing with tragic situations. The same sincere sympathy shone through in the days following 9/11.

It would appear that humanity is his strong suit. Maybe that's what people saw in him at the beginning.
