Do people with organ transplants live a long and normal life?

I recently saw a man who loves his brother so much, donating one of his kidneys to save the life of his brother who had to have a kidney transplant or die! It raised a lot of soul searching questions in my head-can someone with just one kidney live a normal and long life? What about the one who has had a transplant, will the organ expire in the body after sometime?
