Did you ever think about how very small we really are? One would not have to travel too far out into space to lose sight of Earth completely. And to think there's so much going on here!! If one could travel to the edge of our Milky Way Galaxy; (perhaps about 30,000 light years from our position in the Galaxy, or 175,970,880,000,000,000 miles. I'm not even sure how to say that number, but I think it's "175 quadrillion, 970 trillion, 880 billion", no?..lol!), things might look like this:-Our planet would be no more than a "speck" in a Galaxy of billions of other "specks"! -Our life-supporting atmosphere is so thin (maximum: 100 miles thick!) and fragile, it might resemble a tiny "bubble" around our tiny "speck"! -Our all-important moon, just 1/4 of the size of earth, and 1/50 of its volume, might not even be apparent from this viewpoint! -Our whole solar-system, with its nine planets (or is it eight, now??...did Pluto get "booted", or not? I forget!) might look something like an "atom" under a powerful microscope; sort of like electrons and protons (planets) orbiting a nucleus (sun). -Our ever-present sun, with its mass making up 99.8% of our solar-system's total mass, might look like the nucleus of the 'atom' as above, or perhaps like a faint, distant star, much like the billions of other faint, distant stars all around. So...sometimes when I think about how small we really are, and when I realize how fragile even our solar system and galaxy really are, I'm truly amazed at how harmoniously and balanced everything seems to be.......except maybe that of some conditions of life here on Earth! How sad that we, as the tiny creatures inhabiting this "speck" in this "atom" cannot learn to live in peace and harmony when our entire Universe relies on those valuable forces all the time to exist and to continue to exist! May we better understand the true meaning of Love, Peace and Harmony; and may we learn to live according to those principles every day. Ref. http://wikipedia.org for data & stats.
