The quality of your discussions since you first joined my lot......

Well, first off, I tried looking for another discussion like this, but couldn't find one, so I hope I'm not doing any repeating.
Well, we have all changed each other in some ways since we joined here.
When I first joined, I was a rookie, and I didn't really know what to discuss, this was my first real forum, so I stuck to discussions, that were safe, like about my interests in games, and movies and wwe and the like.
I used to ask a simple questions and elaborate maybe a little bit on it, and then wait for responses and sometimes would comment on it and sometimes not, even my first responses to others were short and to the point, and I hate to say this, but not that well thought out.
But now, every response I make is different, it's long, I squeeze out every word I wanna say and hold nothing back.
In the discussions that I start, I have now branched out and now tackle serious topics as well as light ones, as well as share stuff about my life and past and also ponder and relate my ideas.
This in turn has improved my vocabulary, I've learned quite a few things about lots of things.
So, being here has really been a positive impact and this really shows in the quality of my discussions and how different the ones I start now, are to the ones I first started.
It might not be apparent to you, how much you've changed since you first joined, especially since you've been here for long.
Well, I would suggest that you go back to the first discussion you started and take your latest discussion and compare the two. Then it will be clear to you, and this I can guarantee.
So what are you waiting for, take a look and tell me how much you've changed and in what respect?

I think my discussions during my first few days here were not too well done. (I hate it when people still bump them up and I can't help feeling ashamed. :P)
So now the quality has gone up, I think. But recently, I am losing interest in myLot and have to literally force myself to churn out a discussion. Guess the quality might have dropped a wee bit.

Really? Well, honestly I really didn't see that difference, I don't think your discussions lost quality, but I haven't been around much the past few days and I guess you would know better about this one.
Well, maybe it dropped really a teeny tiny wee bit as you said, so I didn't notice.
So, if you don't feel like starting a new discussion, then why do you? You could just make responses for a change, lots of them.

Probably it's just like waving a flag to let people know I am still alive. It's like I already have one foot in the tomb but I put a marker out to say "please do not bury me just yet, I don't know if I need 5 more min of air or 5 more years".

I feel the same way too. Also i wanted to start a similar discussion to this, which says "has mylot changed you in any way, from the day you joined".
Its funny actually cuz there was this other girl you started a discussion yesterday which was exactly what i wanted.I guess somebody is really spying my mind.:P
Its weird though, two discussions in a row.
I've noticed a lot of change in you ever since the day you joined in,not that you weren't good earlier. You were equally good then. And guess what i also came to notice, you're a pretty fast learner, very impressive.
Yeah i've changed a lot for good in here too.I never used to be this guy who talks much.I have a feeling i've said this before.I guess I'm a man of few words.
Also I'm quick tempered and always give in to fights. Here, it is so controlled cuz of all the rules i guess,i'm a better person. You'd never believe me if you saw me in person.btw i use a lot of cuss words. Its not that way around here.So i think i'm kinda turning into a gentleman, not the gentleman whom we meet yesterday.lol.

well, that's great to know, that not only your discussions have changed, but that you've evolved here as a person, for the better.
Good influence,
hmmm... about the reading your mind thing, well, maybe it is happening, so the next time, you have an idea, just express it then and there, and don't wait around, or someone else will beat you to it.

I guess people's conversations usually change over, it depends on how you have grown as a person, but sometimes there are times in your life when you are chattier than others, which means that will have an impression on the way that you do things here.
For me personally, I find that I am ok for a few days with lots to say & in depth explinations and then I do not really have a lot to say so I do give an answer but it is bare bones basics. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing to be honest, but it is me and I doubt to honest if there will be anything to change it...but I would like to think that I'm a member who gives a positive contribution towards this site when I say something.

I must agree with you there...
I try my best to give as detailed as possible description of what I mean as I can when I reply to someone, and usually that is a few sentances, although there have been a few times when I can say it all in a few words but when I it is a few words I try to avoid answering as it is not really as helpful or informative then I feel.

yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes a few words can totally express what you mean, and sometimes you can ramble on and on and make a pint only at the end or none at all.
It's still the same for me sometimes when I'm answering discussions here, some days I just have nothing to say even if it's the most interesting discussion. Those days I just don't answer any then. I would rather not, if I can't give a good answer or the best one I can.

I find that I used to be so scared in saying things in responses that other people would not agree with and give me -ve rating. Now I just go for it and say what I feel. I am not a bad person so I do not imagine that I can say anything to hurtful to people intentionally but I would just say that now I have the confidence to disagree with what someone is saying.
That is kind of what myLot is all about though, its discussions. And discussions often can have two different views in them.
I find that I am often researching things that I owuld never normally look up. Like yesterday I* was looking up what height a baby should be at 5 months and what weight it should be. I don't have any chldren so this is not something that really interests me but I saw that someone else was keen to know so I thought I ow uld try and help them out.
Not everyone knows wher eto look for information on the internet and often have found myself asking questions because I didn't know what words to search or what information to trust.
I think myLot is amazing as it really does teach yo so much and make you take an interest in things you would normally make no effort with.

I agree with the entire thing. I too have learned a lot since I joined here. The interests I came with when I joined have now increased and I'm interested in things that I didn't think I was in. And like you I used to play it safe and worry about what to say, but now I'm not afraid to openly disagree with anyone, even if they do rate me negatively.
And even me, I find myself doing research sometimes for people just so I can give them a good well-informed response and keep the discussion lively. After all, that's what being here is all about, right.

hey, you're welcome,
I also wish new users would figure that out soon enough, and I'm even tempted to tell them this when I answer new users discussions but I feel kinda weird giving unsolicited advice when it's not asked. I don't wanna seem pushy, so I just let it be hoping that they would realize it on their own.

Thanks for best answer. I wish we could tell new users that this is the best way to go about myLot as when you see that someone has really made the effort it makes you so interested in what is being discussed instead of the lame ones like "I also think that".

Well, I was my no means a rookie in the actual sense, when I came onto mylot. I had been writing into two blogs and participating actively on several communities on orkut, but I was largely intrigued when I heard about mylot, a site that paid people for posting content. I thought that it would be flooded with content flicked from else where and mostly meaningless stuff, but when I saw it for myself, I realized otherwise. I think that the biggest reason why there is a semblance of order out here is that people are not allowed to paste articles until they have five hundred posts to their credit. The thing is, by the time people get to 500 posts, they would have become great fans of the system and would not resort to deluge the system with meaningless 'copy and paste' operations, so it only gets better with time. I started slow too and would find it hard to find discussions that interested me, but over time, I have made a lot of friend who are like minded and I mostly respond to their discussions. It's been fun here and I look forward to more of good times out here. God Bless!

yeah, I could definitely tell you weren't new at this thing, and the number next to your name, hardly says anything at all. I'm not a big fan of the copy/paste myself, and I don't really see the point of it anyway, I mean I still don't use it even though I can now. What possibly could I paste here? But it is a smart thing, not allowing people to do it until they are really into my lotting. It means that all the spammers and one-liners get tired and leave before they even reach 500 posts and that's why the content here is still meaningful. I had joined other sites like these before but soon got bored of all of them, because if I'm gonna be spending time on such a site, at least I should be enjoying myself, and there's no enjoyment in one-liners or meaningless discussions.

I am not sure that I have changed much on MyLot but I have not been here very long really. If anything, I have gone the other way to most responders; my typing is getting worse as I trip over the letters in my haste to get my thoughts down. I always tried to give carefully thought through, personal responses but sometimes now I stick to a similar group of discussions and give similar replies. That is probably very bad of me.
However, I have changed as a person. It has been wonderful meeting so many lovely, similar -minded people from around the world. It makes me more contented at home thinking that there is hope for the planet after all.

I guess it is too soon for you to tell the difference, since you've so recently joined, and I started out the same, I mean my thoughts would come fast but my fingers would tap slow, but now the fingers are catching up to the thoughts, of course, initially I used to feel too that I'm a really bad typer, but now, I hardly make any errors. I love meeting people, from different backgrounds here as much as you, it's like all borders merge, and there are no lines of distinction and that's awesome.

I feel that initially my responses were usually very short and maybe even right to the point. These days I am tending to write less forums but when I do write in, I tend to write more. I soon saw that for my own discussions it was certainly more fulfilling to see people who took the trouble to write more lengthy and thoughtful responses in response to our original stimulus statement or question. Having realised that, I now try to write at least 5 or 6 lines in any response.

Well, I personally love reading those long responses, the longer the better, of course, the words have to have meaning and make sense too, but I love reading those big responses because it shows that a person took time to speak their mind and really ponder on the topic.

i can say there is no more diff in the quality that i post. earlier what i used as quality is same now. Earlier there were very little responses. nowadays atleast i get 5-6 responses for few. I have learned that discussions on technology etc don't get much answers.

I have noticed that my typing speed has improved a lot, that I have been more open in my posts and responses about my life, and that I have improved my writing skills. To these things, I'm thankful for all the members and of course to myLot as well. What could have been a little disadvantage, for me, is that the topics I have been posting lately are more trivial and simple as compared to my old "brainer" discussions. This is because I have also learned that I wouldn't be getting any responses if I would try to make life complex for everyone here. Hehe. Happy myLotting!

oh yeah, typing speed, I forgot about that, even mine has drastically improved and I don't make as many mistakes as I did before, the 'backspace' button will eventually become obsolete, hopefully.
And even me, I've learned to describe myself or my discussions in more detail. Well, before my discussions were not the brainy type, now it's a mixture, I do tackle some that require some deep thought, still mixed in with my interests, but I wouldn't change my style according to the responses I get. I like responding to brainy discussions more.
Maybe you could squeeze some of those brainy ones after all, I would try to find it and reply.

I think there may not be much change when I am replying to a discussion, what I do is to try to type as much as I know as long as it is related tot he discussion topic. The reason I do it is I know mlot will pay for quality, I am also try to maximize the earning of the members that I replied to.
The discussions I started now and at the beginning are different, the ones I start now are in a more detail while the ones at the beginning may not be deep enough.
