What do you feed your Ferrets?

Since I've had my ferrets (over 2 years) I've always fed them the Sheppard & Greene dry Adult Formula food...I liked it because it wasn't stinky food and didn't make their 'litter' smell so funky. lol. But recently I went into my usual pet store (the only place around that carried my food) and they have discontinued it. They now sell only the Marshall Farms ferret food. The ferrets they had in the store that eat this food are very hearty, big ferrets - they make mine look like runts and not as healthy. But this food REEKS and makes their 'litter' stink even worse lol. But my question is, what dry food do you feed your ferrets? Do you supplement your ferrets diet with anything else - such as fruits, meats or vegis? If so what kinds, how much?

its probably better to get kitten food. ferret food is kitten food with a different label and its costs alot more. iams kitten food is good. whatever u get, make sure its for kittens, not adult cats. also, a good way to tell if your ferret is gettin good nutrition is to look at its wiskers. a healthy ferret will have long wiskers. one with a poor diet will have short whiskers because they break off.

I inherited six ferrets when I got married... We feed ours Purina Kitten Chow - they are quite 'chunky' little guys! For a while we fed them the Marshall Farms food, but I've noticed no difference in the litter-box smells. We do like to treat them with a vitamin paste (which they love) and 5 out of 6 go crazy for raisins. (The one that doesnt like raisins oddly likes our dog's food...) We give the raisins out once a day, the vitamin goo about 3 times a week.
