even though they are both used in similar ways on the net, its kind of hard to compare them e-gold is a currency while paypal is more like a bank for larger transaction i would always vote for paypal because security is way better (you are a bank customer) e-gold should only be used for smaller transaction because its easily lost i newer had issues so far with paypal, while my e-gold account was hacked one day after funding it, loosing all of my funds, its kind of like loosing a wallet, the cash will be gone for sure, while you might get lucky on your atm and credit card. when i asked for assistance from e-gold i had to wait for 2 days and then got an answer from an attorney (typical for big us corps) essentially telling me its all my fault and they cant help me, all imbedded in a lot of attorney talk whenever you have the chance to use paypal use it instead of egold, its a lot safer, they invest a lot of more effort in finding out who they are dealing with, while e-gold doesnt care (their only obligation is to make sure its backed by gold, who ends up owning it is not their problem :-))

Paypal is much safer then e-gold, though it can be problematic at times. My e-gold was hacked a few months back, luckily, there was only a few dollars inside. These things don't happen in paypal cause they would just move the money back to you after you logged a complain. E-gold, however, would quote you a line from Gone With the Wind.

I have no choice actually. Only e-gold is available in the Philippines for receiving payments. But from the comments of other people, paypal is safer. There are also more programs which only accept paypal as payment. If you're into high risk trading however like HYIP, e-gold is more of the accepted mode of payment. If it were possible, I guess having both of them is okay, for different uses.

That would depend on your location. For example, I am from Philippines and PayPal doesn't allow us to withdraw from our PayPal account that is why I chose e-Gold. So my suggestion for you is to make a research first on what PayPal rules you have on your country then if you dont want it, you could choose e-Gold.

i think e-gold is more profitable, because your money is not counted in $$ but your money you first transfer there with $$ is convert to gold, so it can be up or down when you receive bcak the $$, also imy country only support e-gold, :(

Paypal is not available worldwide, so for those countries that do not have access to Paypal, they would probably go with E-gold, better still, I don't think they can be compared, since they don't exactly function the same way.

I think paypal is better. It's faster on the payouts, it's free and they do not charge for transferring etc.

Well, I prefer Paypal because I think it's safer. I've heard stories about different crooks using Egold for money laundering purposes and I've also heard of people's accounts being hacked. Though Paypal isn't entirely free of horror stories either but I guess I have to choose the lesser of two evils until a completely safe and reliable payment system is introduced over the internet.
