we usally plant beginning of april and well we had some really nice days and i thought ok we are good to go. we planted and planted and planted lol. everything had just started coming up and it was looking good. then here came another cold snap. we got below freezing for a week or more and now everything looks dead. we use our garden alot. we use it for food cause the produce is so high. i dont have the money to go back and do it all again. we have had more rain then we ever get. my yard looks like a swamp. we rent a small house and it has a huge yard so we plant for food for us so its not like i can get help like the farmers around here do. any suggestions on how to get my garden to come back to life or am i s.o.l. and need to start again. we planted tomatoes, strawberries, lettuce, corn, cucumbers, watermellon, onion, squash, peas, carrots, peppers, beans, i mean just all kinds of things and now i am scared it is all gone.

We used to have a saying here that you never plant anything out in the garden until after Easter and then you go for it big time. That doesn't apply any more because of climate change it is difficult to say when and what should be planted at any time. Hope you manage to rescue your produce, maybe it would be better to plant in tubs or boxes and then you can bring them in at night or during bad weather.

what part of the country do you live in that you can already set out plants/seeds? I'm in New York and I barely have uncovered any ground yet due to the irratic weather

Same here. I was really heart-broken to see some of my hard work and money go down the drain. Whatever I could bring in the house, I did but some of the things I planted in early April didn't make it. I'm going to try again this weekend but maybe in a smaller scale. I'm looking at getting more perennials planted this year. Hopefully, they will make it through the winter and bloom next spring! :)

Did you cover your garden during the cold snap? That helps protect the plants from frost. Here in the north country we do not plant until after memorial day. Other wise you will surely lose it to jack frost. I would say you are probably going to have to replany your garden. Good luck.

Oh I'm so sorry about your garden. I can't imagine what I would have done if I were in your place. I'm lucky to be living in Malaysia where the weather is suitable for planting throughout the year. However the weather here has the habit of being unpredictable. Not too long ago I lost a few plants to extreme heat and than a few days later one of my seedling literally drowned in a heavy downpour. I hope your efforts will not be wasted.
