I am not really sure where it came from, but I have seen a movie called Armegeddon starring Bruce Willis and it was a pretty good movie. I would recommend it.

The name Armageddon actually comes from the Hebrew language meaning "Mountain of Megiddo." And if you read Revelation chapter 16:14,16 in your Bible, you'll notice the word mentioned there. You'll also notice, by reading this chapter of the Revelation, that this word is directly linked to the war of God the Almighty. The term applies to the condition, or situation in which the kings of the earth will gather against God and his appointed king, Jesus Christ; actually war against God and Jesus. God will prove to be the winner and thus bring wonderful conditions on the earth, as it was suppose to be in the begining when he created Adam and Eve. This war will also be a righteous war and a selective one. Contrary to what many people believe, according to the Bible, armageddon will not destroy the earth with some cataclysmic event. God will not allow his beautiful earth to be destroyed by man. He will intervene before that. We know this because he mentions it himself in Revelation 11:18 where it's written that God will "bring to ruin those ruining the earth." This will bring beautiful conditions on the earth, where peace will finally reign.
