Did you lose any money outside?

I just had two young boys ring my doorbell so that they could ask me if I had lost any money outside. They informed me that they just found some and were going door-to-door, trying to find its owner. How sweet is that? I was honest and told them that I hadn't. What would you have done?

or perhaps they were casing the neighborhood to see who is and isn't home. Always be wary even of kids. Sometimes they work for older kids that are bad news.

Well, that's one way of looking at it, I suppose, but I live in what would be considered a "good" neighbourhood and I've seen these boys playing in the parking lot, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. You're right, though, you never know what a person may be up to.

i would be hesitant for the same reasons. they have a problem with kids doing home invasions up here. if they were on the level though, blees their lil' hearts.that's rare nowadays.

I guess it was sweet of them as long as they had no ulterior motives. You never know these days and why would they knock from door to door asking? Somebody is bound to say it's theirs when it probably isn't? Why not take it to the police and tell them where they found it? It sounds fishy to me. Brightest Blessings.

Now that a few days have gone by, I cannot help but wonder just how much money it was that they found and if they managed to find a taker for it.

How cute! Most kids would have just kept it. I wonder how much they found?

I wonder, too. I was tempted to ask, just out of curiosity, but I didn't. I simply smiled and thanked them for asking me if it was mine.

Yes,very cute kids, maybe you should geve them some prize. When I was in high school I lost my wallet there was about 80RMB in it is equivalent to $10 .But the funnies thing is my roomate found it and he didnt even know it's mine.So technically I didnt lose any money ,maybe I'm little lucky.

How very sad...I'm not sure if this is more indicative of my own jaded view of the world or if it says something about my own character that I would even suspect these boys, but when I first read your discussion, my first thought was, "What's these kids' angle?" "What kind of scam are they trying to pull?" Of course, reading later that you'd seen these kids around the neighborhood definitely changes things - as does your own characterization of your neighborhood as a "good" one. Knowing that, I'd have to say that these kids deserve a pat on the head and a "attaboy", as well. Maybe I'm not entirely beyond redemption after all. =D

If I had read this as someone else's discussion, I probably would have thought similarly, so don't feel too bad. And no, Mr. Nebuloso is not beyond redemption, at least not in my book. *smile*

i think that was cool of them to do that. i know i would do it too. if someone i saw dropped his or her money and hasnt noticed, i would go after him/her to catch him/her up and give it to him or her. if i found money that was big money, i would go around looking for those who seemed to be looking for something and those around the money, but only give it to those who know the amount of money. i wouldnt just go and give them the money.

That is so sweet! I would have been honest if it wasn't my money. If they are honest enough to walk around and try to find the owner of the money, then I hope people would be honest with them and not take the money if it's not theirs.
