I'm looking for recipes for the type of rice cassarole recipe where you DON'T have to cook the rice before adding it. I made a pre-boxed Mixeican style "Homestyle Bake" the other night for a quick dinner, and I noticed you added the rice raw, then added extra water to cook the rice in the oven. I loved this as it was much easier for prep work, and I could go do something else while the whole dinner was baking. I know I could look up recipes on the web, but I would rather get some tried and true, tested recipes. So, please share your rice cassarole recipes (where you don't have to pre-cook the rice) with me.

Here is a really good one that has been passed down in my family. Texas Hash: Onion to taste, 1 lb. ground beef, 1 can stewed mexican tomatoes, 1/2 c. uncooked instant white rice, 1 tsp. chili powder, 2 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. pepper, 1 can kidney beans with juice. Cook ground beef and onions until beef falls apart. Stir in remaining ingredients; pour into a greased 2 quart casserole dish. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, removing cover last 15 minutes.

Your welcome and I hope you enjoy. I know in my family I have to make a double batch because it is so well liked. One batch is normally not enough.
