TAking notes in your study

Taking good notes is helpful to my learning.Just before a class starts,I divide my notebook page into two parts:the left part for taking down nots and the right part for main ideas.Just after class,during the break,I make use of the few minutes to write two or three sentences about lesson's main points.This is very useful,esoecially during the time at the end of a term,when I have to review and prepare for the final examinations. Do you think the method will be useful for one's study?
