still with their 2004 championship core, the san antonio spurs will try to have another shot at the title this season. working silently but in a deadly way, the spurs have managed to climb up to the standings after the all-star break. of all the teams who made it to this years playoffs, the spurs have the greatest playoff experience. they've got key veterans and good game chemistry. they play balanced offense and defense and could adjust to different playing styles, key ingredients for an nba title. while on the other hand, the allen iverson trade to denver has really worked well. the nuggets are on a run lately coming to the playoffs. can the spurs take the title again? or will AI-melo tandem prove something this time?

...for me san antonio spurs have the most intelligent coaching staff in the nba,... ...they also have the players who are very used to nba playoff kind of plays..., Timothy Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Mike Finley....these guys knew what to expect.,, ...comparing to the Denver Nuggets,...that has A.I. and Melo but they still new as a team,... we still not seeing how they play in the playoffs together,....hmmmmm,... ...i think Spurs will win,...4-2,.. manu is the man

not only that, i think the san antonio spurs is one of the most unselfish teams in the nba, just maybe close to the phoenix suns. duncan, parker, ginobili.. these guys really dont care if they score a lot of points every night, as long as they win the game, thats what matters most for them

i was thinking robert horry is an odd man out for the spurs. he just averaged a little above 3 points and 3 rebounds a game in the season, both are actually career lows for him. but the 36 year old veteran came up firing in their last two games against the nuggets, doing what he does best, hitting those clutch baskets which decided the outcome of the game. robert horry has established himself more as one of the best clutch performers in the nba history. let him sit the whole game and field him in the dying seconds of the game and he'll win the game for you. he's not named 'big sht rob' for nothing

I agree. None of the Denver Nuggets come close to Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili's playoffs experience. In the post-season, that matters a lot, and that's especially true in this series, where two teams can be evenly-matched until the latter parts of their games. In those segments of the games, clutch plays and game-winners are often made in favor of the more experienced team. On the coaching staff, this is a great match between George Karl and Gregg Popovich. They're part of a trio (the other being Larry Brown) who has grown and learned from each other, and it all comes down to how their respective teams execute in responses to their coaches' geniuses.

This match up will reach game 7 on the wire.I would give San Antonio Spurs on game 7 series in an overtime win over the Denver Nuggets.Although Nuggets snag game 1 over the Spurs I still believe Spurs will bounce back and win game 2 and 3 in Denver. Game 1 updates:A hungry and offensively potent Nuggets squad rolled into San Antonio, stole home-court advantage and walked away with a 95-89 road victory in Game 1 on Sunday. After going 0-for-6 in the first quarter, Allen Iverson went 11-for-16 to finish with 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting. Carmelo Anthony stepped up big as well, pouring in 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while also corraling eight rebounds. Nene scored 13, but proved to be a valuable asset inside by pulling down 12 rebounds. Marcus Camby added 10 rebounds himself, helping the Nuggets post a nine-rebound advantage over the Spurs. The game was decided at the line, with the Spurs being outscored by 14 from the stripe. Tony Parker collected 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Michael Finley scored 15. Tim Duncan contributed 14 points, 10 boards, and seven assists for San Antonio, which had the league's best defense entering the playoffs.

with the nuggets winning game 1 and allen iverson and carmelo anthony torching the spurs with at least 30 points a piece, i think this is going to be the most exciting series in the nba aside from vince carter's toronto homecoming and don nelson's dallas homecoming. the spurs will definitely come up strong in game 2, after all we all know what the spurs can do. they're a playoff tested team and cant be counted out yet, especially that its only game 1. good thing to see for the nuggets that AI and melo is finally gettting along pretty well. just like most of the spurs players, iverson is a playoffs proven player. he even almost single handedly led philadelphia to the 2001 playoffs before losing to shaq and kobe. now that he's got anthony along with him, denver is definitely a team to watch this playoffs
