hypothyroidism

I have had this disease since I was born. I was born without a thyroid gland. Just wondering if any of you guys out there with hypothyroidism were born without one too. It just seems weird that I was born without one. I mean is that common??

I have never heard of anyone else being born without one. I have mine, it just doesn't work properly so I need to take the synthroid.

what would happen if I stopped taking the meds. Would it kill me? Someone told me i would just be really tired all the time. I am already tired all the time taking the medicine. But would it ever affect any other parts of my body??
