when i have planned something really exciting to me it is the anticipation of this even that makes me happy and not the real event itself.this happens of course for something which i desire a lot.reality is nerver exactly like my dream.like my anticipation.it may be worse but it may be better.it does not matter.for me it is anticipation which counts a lot. anticipation has durance while the real event may last for a little time.my anticipation for a trip to country had filled my heart and life for one year last year. i can not live without anticipating.do you feel something similar?

I feel exactly like you ! It is like you have read my thoughts :) . You are right . . . When I plan to do something and that sounds very extraordinary I think a lot about how it will be . . . and of course I only think about good things . For example next weekend I am leaving in a short holiday and for two weeks the thought about how fun it will be made me happy . Sometimes when I go to sleep I try to anticipate what will I do there and how beautiful those days would be . . . It is a really nice feeling . . .

I completely agree, true happiness lies in anticipating it. I guess what that really means is that we all need hope, something to look forward to in the future not just a good present (though all the self help gyan tells us that true happiness is achieved by 'living in the moment'). Personally I can put up with bad situations if there is hope for the future or I can anticipate that things are going to get better, but it's tougher to be happy if I'm anxious about the future thought things might be going really well in the present.

I find that anticipation is a time that in most areas will stress me out, because of my illness, I try not to anticipate anything as I play mind games and always lose. I am happy it works for you but, it never has for me.
