Why are boys so sensitive about their hair?

I have a classmate once in high school who was so sensitive about his hair. He was a nice guy and even if you tease him or joke around with him, he wont get mad. But once you touch his hair or even try to dishevel it, he will be really mad!! I thought before that it was only him but through the years, I have known and seen other guys who are also very sensitive about their hair that they wont even let other people touch it. So, what's the deal with guys and their hair? Why do they get mad when people touch it?

I would like to admit that I am a little bit touchy about my hair style. I have my hair style for a long and people around the locality even ask me why you don't change yours. I have no justification because I feel myself comfortable with my hair.... I don't think it must be changed or even the clolr should be chnaged. Well, sometimes I tried to change the same but ooops it was not appealing to me either ;) Thanks for discussion.
