Is upgrading to GPTs Gold membership the best way to get referrals?

For example I see this on a PTR home page: "Upgrade to Gold membership (lifetime) from $5 -- Free Referrals , 50,000 banner impressions AD , 1000 clicks AD on the paid to click!" I know that when you sign up to a GPT program there is a section where they ask for the name of the person who referred us. If no referrer then a Gold Member will be assigned automatically. The Gold members of course are the ones who upgrade to gold membership. I think this is a neat way to get referrals but I don't know if it works. Have you ever upgraded to Gold membership? Did it work for you or was it a waste of money?

This depends a lot on the program itself. You have to see what is the real advantages for being an upgraded member. Does it increase your earning? Does it lower your payout? Does it give you free referral. I have upgraded one of my GPT program because of the above reasons and it was worth it.

Thank you shakeroo. I was just wondering if you can really have referrals when you upgrade.
