my dog, my big brother

people who are experts in dogs often stress that its not good for a dog owner to attribute human characteristics to their dogs, but to true dog lovers, that's hard to do. i tried to do that, but sometimes i just lapse because my dog just seems to have certain human characteristics that i cannot, for the life of me, overlook. the best one, although this could also be the inherent protective canine instinct that all dogs have, is that when i'm with my boyfriend, and no one else is around except for the three of us, my dog does not let us out of his sight. it's either he's sitting next to us, or he's lying down in front of us, like a protective older brother. he's not hostile to my boyfriend, but he's not friendly either. when my boyfriend comes he goes into this guarded mood, like gearing up for his protective brotherly duties...hahah. thinking about my dog in this way is kind of amusing...does any one have dogs who are like mine? i think dogs like him are really unique...but then, i dont have a lot of dogs.

Dogs sometimes do react like a human being. And they have those protective instinct if i must say. If they are loved by you, they will protect you from any harm. My dog always protect me from strangers, by showing her teeth or by barking at them. But once she get to know them better, or they are treating her nice, she can be nice too.
