this film depicts the emotions of a man during the decline of mayan civilization.its a great movie directed by a great director,Mel Gibson.but the film has been accused of historical inaccuracies and racism by native american historians and members of that community.

I think that native americans would know best if they have been affronted and they should be respected for that. No one wants his culture to be insulted. As for the historical inaccuracies i think that the movie wasn't really intended to be historically accurate. what we should really look at is the fact that this movie communicates at a personal level with viewers through the inner psychological struggles of Jaguar Paw. At the same time it does not let us forget the greateer reality of a dying civilization that has been destroyed first by its decadence, politics and moral corruption. Don't you find it ironic that the Mayan civilization tried to destroy the way of life of small villages without knowing that looming in the horizon was actually a greater threat that would destroy them too? It kinda makes me think that our civilization would meet a similar end. While we all struggle with our inner demons we might not know that a greater destruction is about to come because of our own corruption.

well... they were just looking at the bad side of the movie then... they were not able to see the whole movie as an inspiring one but a mere picture of history that was written..well,who could accurately give what happened before...noone!!!
