Troy is the best movie ever. Even many people do not think so, I would oppose them. Troy has great effects, there is no question about that. But the main point is the story! Amazing acting of Pitt, who has a destiny foretold by his mother and following his path to glory, however once when he fall in love he is prepared to burry all his dreams to it. Achilues relation to Agamemnon is also interesting. King needs him, while they both hate each other. Achileus has thus some power over the king. And I can continue like this with most of the characters in the movie.

Sure, I think Troy is a great movie. Maybe not the best movie made in Hollywood but one of the best made in Hollywood over the past few years. Please note that this does not include New Zealand (LOTR). The screenplay is good, has a good storyline, without deviating much from the original story, great cast, shame some of the supporting actors aren't up to par. On Brad Pitt's performance, yes Troy definitely sees one of his best yet. The way he showcases an arrogant and confident Greek warrior, you'd think he actually was Achilles in his past life. You can fail to see the desire and passion to attain glory shown by his character. According to today's standards, he doesn't say much, but action speaks louder than words, and more so in a historic action epic. Also commendable are the performances by Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom taking up the roles of Hector and Paris respectively. Hector, the ever loyal son and prince of Troy, though many times disagreeing with the politics, yet upholds his duty as the military commander. It's interesting to see how at times he's anguished by the decisions made by others, swallows his pride and carries on with duty. And Paris, charming seducer and prince of cowards. Orlando Bloom succeed in making me feel totally disgusted with his character, and justly so. A wonderful performance indeed, considering his roles in LOTR and Pirates of the Caribbean. Not exactly an evil character, yet one you can still loathe. Some supporting roles however were rather lacklustre. Take for instance Brian Cox portraying Argamemnon, or Garret Hedlund as Patroclus. Argememnon lacked fierceness, and at time even seemed as if he was confused whether he was leading the Greeks to attack Troy or leading Macy's Day Parade. Maybe it was to alienate him from the viewers, but whatever the reason, Agamemnon seemed more fit to be a royal Jester than a Royal Overlord. As for Patroclus, you couldn't see less desire for someone who's been waiting all the while to go to battle. At least his dying scene is good, you can almost feel his fear as he realizes that he made a mistake he couldn't rectify. As far as action films go, this movie has plenty of them, a short warm-up in the beginning of the movie sees a fresh look on one-on-one combat. Then, later during the beach assault, the way they utilized the shield was just visually brilliant. Don't know if it will actually work in real warfare, but it does look good on film and that's what counts. Epic is another term earned by this movie not in the least due to the number of extras for the fight scenes. 1000's ships is a spectacular scene, and spectacular just starts to describe the scenes this movie offers. All in all, if you're looking to see a movie that you'll still remember in years to come, you sure won't want to miss out watching this movie. If you're a fan of movies like BraveHeart or Gladiator, then buying a DVD of this movie is quite a good investment, as you'll be wanting to watch it again and again.

Troy is definitely one of the better movies made by Hollywood in recent years. However,I wouldn't call it the best movie ever made.(There are far better movies like LOTR,the Godfather etc.)Brad Pitt's acting is definitely wonderful in this movie.
