Going to San Francisco and need ideas...

I am traveling in a couple of weeks to San Francisco for a 3 day training course. I am going by myself but hope to meet some people there willing to do some things at night. For those of you who live there or have been there, do you have any thoughts as to where to go and what to do???

I live in the San Franicsco Bay Area... It all depends on what you want to do... if you want nightlife, you can pick up a number of guides once you are here to point you into the direction of whatever type of club/bar you are looking for..
If you wanna do the tourist thing, then Pier 39, Union Square (for shopping), Ghiradelli Square, and a number of other places await (and those are all easy to get to with public transportation.) If you are staying in the city, mind you, I would seriously consider walking or taking public transportation because parking is a mess.
You can head out to the beaches (Ocean, North) if all you are looking for is some time to relax. There are also a number of spas either on Market Street or in SOMA (South of Market Street.) If you have transportation, don't be afraid to wander out of the city. There are some nice, lesser-crowded things to check out should you venture out of SF.
