Do you pay your bills online or by postal mail?

I was curious how many people pay their bills online verses paying by check. I pay 90% of my bills online now. I still have a couple I pay by writing a check. It seems like there are so many businesses now that will not take a check any longer, but they accept debit cards. And how about WalMart; you write a check and they electronically debit the money out of your account right there on the spot! How cool is that? I bet their rate of bad checks has plummeted. Anyway, do you feel like your personal information is safe when you pay online? Why or why not? I am really interested in the response from all of you. Hugs.

I pay all my bills online its so much faster than having to mail the checks out then waiting on them to take the money out. I have had to wait upto a month for ppl to take my check out its a pain in the rear so I just long onto my bank account and pay them all there. It depends what site you are putting your info on. I try not to use sites I don't know and I like to see the secure server icon. I haven't had a problem yet. I order from toysrus and sears and pay my bills online and so far so good

Yes, it is much faster to pay online. Mail gets lost, misdirected and sometimes winds up in never never land. I' ve not ever had a problem.

I trust online banking more now than ever before because there are about 35 numbers and or letters you need to know to even be able to access the bank much less the account so yes it's pretty safe and if someone knows your bank account number plus all the extra secret numbers it would have to be because you gave it out I'm thinking. Where I live bussiness will still take a cheque if it's to pay a bill but for store purchases not so much. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said there have been too many bad cheques in circulation. Take care.

I agree. Unless someone gives out their account number and all their numbers, online transactions are pretty safe. Yep, many places have stopped taking checks. My employer is one of them. They are a world wide company, and quit taking checks December 1, 2006. Many of our customers are not happy about it, but the company felt that the cost they encure every month due to to bad checks wasn't very cost effective anymore. Hugs!

Fortunately cash still accepted as payment - lol. I wonder if there will ever come a day when businesses won't take cash... probably not huh!! Yes, paying online has become very popular everywhere, and I think its great!

I have been paying my bills online for a about three years now. It is so convenient and I save money on stamps, which would be increasing in price next month. I have never encountered any problem paying my credit card, phone, gas, internet bills online. I also do most of my banking activities online. I monitor my credit report regularly, though, just as a precaution.

Yep, it is super convenient. I've not had any problems with paying online either. The merchants and businesses that offer online payments pay their security team big bucks to enable the safety of our private information. Monitoring our credit reports on a regular basis is a must do. You never can be too careful.
