I breed and raise Huskies and they are a very demanding breed. They require alot of attention, grooming, exercise, etc. They are a wonderful breed and very loving. They cannot be trusted off a leash, they need a very tall fenced in yard and are great escape artists. My female still gets out of the yard and will not return home for 3 or 4 hours. They have no concept of strangers and think that everyone is a friend. They are great with children but they don't always get along with cats but are fine with dogs and small birds. They do have a few health problems such as cataracts and hip dysplasia but all can be treated. I would recommend visiting www.shca.org and www.akc.org as they are both really good websites that have alot of information that would be helpful to you. Good Luck!

Huskys are a breed that should only be owned by someone with a very active lifestyle. Think about it - these dogs are bred to trot all day pulling a heavy sled. They need a lot of exercise to keep them from becoming destructive. They're also not a breed for anyone who wants a dog they can let off leash. And, as with all the northern breeds, they are heavy shedders. They're beautiful and make great companions, but only for the right person. You need to do a lot of research on this breed, talk to breeders and people who have them to determine if this is the right breed for you before you commit to them.

We have a husky at home... She's only 5 months old but surprisingly big! I wasn't expecting her size will be like that at this age and my brother said, tasha will even get bigger soon. She runs alot around the house and cries when she cant do/get what she wants... She's like other puppies who wants to be caressed, but with her size, it's been a problem at home. Accidents are prone when she's awake. She plays with my one year old shih tzu and we worry that she might hurt our little dog. If you want a husky, my mom is giving her away, but not me! I love my husky bcoz she's sweet, and i'm going to take good care of her no matter what. :)

I have a husky/yellow lab mix. He is the most wonderful animal. He is a little over two now, and he LOVES attention. More importantly, he requires a great deal of exercise. This is not a breed of dog that is ok with just once in a while potty walks. They need room to run. We have a townhouse and it is a good size, but living space smaller would not work. Also, huskies can suffer from separation anxiety. He struggled with it when he was very young, but he does much better now that he gets to go on long runs almost every day. Exercise is necessary for this breed! Mine is truly a cuddle kid though!
