I have a rather simple question. What exactly your name mean? who chose your name and how was it selected? was it selected at random or was there some reason behind selecting your name?
Some people believe that name has an effect on personality! what do you say?

ooh! I like this discussion!
My name, Breanna, means "exalted or lofty" this means elevated in rank, status, style, character, dignity, etc!
I'm not sure who named me O.o I've never asked my parents which one of them named me, it never crossed my mind!
At least I hope my character is elevated! I try to be kidn to everyone, and be polite too.

My name means cheerful. I think that's weird, because I often get accused of being anything but cheerful. Then again, when you take into consideration how I could be now considering my history, I suppose I am relatively cheerful. That's a lot to think about!
I was actually named after a great-great-grandfather. I don't know much about him other than that he moved to the U.S. from Ireland, and I heard far more stories from my great-grandmother about her mother than her father, so I really don't have much of an idea what kind of guy he was. I have no idea why my parents chose that name. I find it's interesting that I was named after a male, but my name is now a common female name.
My middle name means "gracious" and I don't know if that fits me either. But I'd like to think it does, or least that it is a goal to live up to. Perhaps cheerful should fall in that same category for me.

Thanks lecanis! for sharing these details and background about your name. I assume that your parents would have chosen that name because of their love with your great-great grandfather. It appears that people started giving your name to their children after you:-)
From little interaction that i have with you or from some discussions, I can say with some confidence that you are cheerful and gracious:-) Thanks again for sharing.

My name means 'a joyous song'. I am a fourth child and the forth girl. My parents named us all with the same initials. When it came time to name me they were hoping for a boy and I think had some boy names but a fourth girl with the same starting initial was becoming difficult. So they decided to name me after the youngest child of their best friends.
I'm not sure about the personality part of the question. If you asked people who know me best I do not think they would say that my personality is like a joyous song.

Some times friends are helpful in naming, though indirectly. one of my friends who is known to me for 4 years says that he will name his next baby boy after me. Though i don't believe that a name necessarily have effect on personality based on my experience with some people, yet it might be the case that you or your friends havn't explored more joyous aspects about your personality. We continue to learn till our last breath and that includes our own personality:-) Thanks for sharing Makingpots.

My name means two things. The first part "Tara" means "Stars" and the second name "Chand" means "moon". Close friends call me by the shorter version of my name, "Taro" or "Star" in my mother tongue that is Sindhi. There are many people who are named only "Tara" (that's actually a feminine name, rare among males) or "Chand" which is common to both males and females. Though it symbolizes the crescent and the star, it is not an Islamic name, more of Hindu name, used by people in West and North India. Sindh, which is now in Pakistan was once a part of India and my parents migrated to the present India as refugees when the British partitioned the Indian peninsula on communal basis in 1947.
My father named me, this was after a boss he admired greatly. A little after I was born, my father quit the job and started out on his own.
I have done many things, even done a bit of modeling mostly as a hobby which have brought me good income, besides a main business, which was running an engineering design and manufacturing business-we made tailor made items for the metals industry mainly and process plants too. I closed that business 8 years ago and retired at the age of 40, and migrated to Bangalore, where I now manage financial portfolios, besides writing a columns for a few publications.
As far as personality is concerned, well, I have been told that I do have a commanding one and people do get awed by me quite often.

My name (in RL) means reflector of light and it was the name of my great-grandmother's sister. After her brother was lost at sea in World War I, my great grandmother lost her mind and her sister raised her children. My mom named me for the woman who had raised her father.
