Does anyone watch the show Wife Swap?

My husband really likes to watch this show and see the outcome of having a different wife take over the house. I guess it is ok, but I just can't seem to get into it like he does. I just think that it would be hard to go into a house and act like the wife and mother when you don't even know the people or the way they do things in their household. Plus, it seems like they are opposites in the way they have their households and manage their children. What do you think?

I watch the show when I remember it's on .. Yeah it would be hard to pick up and take care of someone else's children that you don't know and manage the house the way they do ... But hey that the challange and they do get something out of it.. The reason why they put people that are opposites together is to show each side they do not have to be at the extreme of each end .. for example the one show the one house was overly neat to the put of wow, it didn't even look like kids exisisted. but when you went to the other house they didn't clean at all. I think they did this partly on contrversy but also to show you don't have to go to the extreme there is a happy medium. and that is what both got out of it at the end. Do people always get the lesson out of everything no. but hey it's a show it's entertainment supposedly and that is the bottom line for the tv station.

This is true, I think some of the people learn something from the swap, but whether they apply the learned lesson or not is the big thing.

I love watching Wife Swap, mainly because I like to see what sort of lifestyles people live. Usually on wife swap, they take the complete opposites of people and swap them, so that gives me a chance to see what kinds of people are out there. There was an episode where, a family lives and breathe clowning! I find that very odd, but I guess that's the beauty of our world. I also like the real life drama of the show, and the therapuetic aspect of it. I wouldn't personally be on wife swap, but it is certainly fun to watch.

This show is done to make sure that the families vaules, beliefs and the way they raise there kids are totally different. I like it. It makes you realize that what you have is not all that bad. This shows is one of the only reality shows I even like. But you have to know that everyone is different and if we were all the same that the world would be quite dole...

I agree with you on that. The world would be a strange place if everyone was the same!

I hate all those reality shows. I never watch them. I just cant believe they are so popular. I like a story with some substance to it. I love NCIS, CSI, The Unit, Numbers and Criminal Minds. These shows hold my interest. Reality shows do not.

I like all those shows, too, but sometimes I like to watch something different and something that my husband enjoys, too.

I really like that show. I don't know why, as I tend to dislike reality tv, but I watch that show every week. I think it's amazing how some of these people put up with each other and actually come through learning something about themselves in most cases.

I agree, it is amazing to see them go into these situations and sit and fight about having to follow the others rules. But, in the end 9 times out of 10 they do learn something from it.

How fun that your husband is so into the Wife Swap show. Do you think he would actually be willing to participate? Not mine. I was actually invited to be on Wife Swap after a producer read some of my writing online. I used to write a frugal living column, and they wanted me to swap with a frivolous wife. My family wasn't up for it, so I declined. I think it would have been very interesting, but I didn't argue when my family didn't want to do it. I would have had a really tough time allowing someone else to be "mom" to my kids for an entire week and I would miss my family too much. Yep. They are complete opposites. The idea is that they might learn something from each other. I think what they probably learn the most is how much they appreciate Mom and can't wait for her to get home!

No, my husband would never participate, he just likes to watch it and listen to the fights at the ends. I think that is great that you were invited to do the show. But, like you, I wouldn't want someone else being a "mom" to my son or being away from him for a week.

I love this show!!!! I have it on my dvr to record each week. I love to see the different types of moms they get to do the show. To me that is what makes the show so much fun because both moms are total opposites. Its not a show I would be on but it is a show I just love to watch.

I love that show! I think they intentionally find families that are opposites to make it interesting. It adds to the drama and sometimes people actually learn something from eachother. It's good for people to be openmined about people who choose to live their lives differently.

It would be hard to do and that's what makes the show interesting. A lot of the people on that show are absolutely crazy though, they should be getting help, not telling other people how to run their lives.

My whole family watches this show when it comes on at 7PM. We used to watch Supernany, until they changed the time to 9PM. That really bites because I liked seeing how bratty those kids are and how Jo deals with them. It is a really good show for new parents in my opinion.

We like Supernanny, too. It is funny to see how she deals with things, I have tried a few of her techniques with our 12 year old son and it worked!

I love this show! I watch it religiously! I like seeing how other wives/mothers in the world run their homes. I could never be on the show though. I don't think I could ever switch lives with someone else and leave my baby and my husband for two weeks! No way!
