South Korean on Cho

As we know, Cho-Seung the shooter of Virginia Tech was a south korean immigrant, now a permanent resident of the US (and has been for 15 years). Now when word that the shooter was south korean, the people of south korean was mortified. They were very ashamed...
If you were a south korean would you be ashamed of having Cho as your countryman?
