Well I just read a bit of interesting news. Columbia Pictures has bought the rights to the character The Green Hornet and have announced a possible release date for a new movie in 2009. Yes I know that's still 2 years away. They have not set on anyone for it or anything like that. I was curious how many remember the tv show and also who would you like to see as the characters. Is this a movie you'd like to see? For those who don't know The Green Hornet was a superhero. He worked with the DA but the cops thought he was a crook. His other persona was Rick Reed, the owner of the local newspaper. His side kick Kato. During the short lived tv series Kato was played by Bruce Lee. You're very welcome. I remember when the characters even guest starred on Batman and Batman though they were criminals. It was really funny because the other personas were best friends, Bruce Wayne and Britt Reid. Now here is some trivia for you. What crime fighter was Britt Reid related to?

Green Hornet, Batman, Superman I remember and love them all, even the goofy, campy versions - I never try to 'guess' who's going to be doing the parts because if I pick my fav and they don't get it I get annoyed. I'll likely put it on the list of 'to see' as soon as it comes out.

Oh I know what you mean. I tried to think of who I'd want to play them but the ones coming to mind are a bit old for the roles. Still should be interesting to see who they get for it.

yeah I thought that was who played him was Bruce Lee. I have never watched the show but my father use to talk about it he was a Bruce Lee fan. I liked watching some of his movies. That sounds neat that Disney is making a movie of The Green Hornet.

I remember watching The green Hornet onT.V. as a kid and loving loving it. To me he was a true Superhero. No extraspecial powers, just soneone getting justice for those who could not. Working in the D.A.'s oficehe saw how often criminals get away the wrong they do. He fought that. When thecourt system failed, he was there. Kato was a grat side-kick. To watch the two of them in action again would be great. As long as they stay true to the story line of the Green Hornet and don't mess it up by giving him "super" powers or access to all sorts of technology that a D.A. would not have access to.

I agree they shouldn't give him super powers. They should keep to the original storyline of him. Well Britt Reid could have technology since he is a millionaire, he owned the newspaper after all and was friends with Bruce Wayne. So he could have the fancy gadgets but I do agree they shouldn't mess with things and change him.

It put a smile on my face to find out that there are those that remember the "Green Hornet!" It really doesn't matter to me who plays the parts. I do remeber the show, and we actually had to T.V.s and watched both the "Green Hornet", and "Batman". Thanks for the info.

Well I didn't see the show until much later. It was on F/X when the channel first started. They showed it and the original Batman show. I loved it and really wish there had been more episodes. I did like when they guest starred on Batman. I'd seen that before I ever saw the show Green Hornet.

I know the Green Hornet and Adam West's Batman show were airing around the same era,and I've seen a clip of the Batman Ep that featured The Hornet and Kato squaring off against the Dynamic duo..and from my Perspective today, laughing at the idea of Robin thinking He stood a chance against Bruce Lee's Kato! But though I can reminisce about seeing the Batman series when I was a Kid,I have to sayI have absolutely no recollection of Green Hornet on TV,apart from Remembering playing with a neighbour's Toy Car "Black Beauty"..(Made by Corgi?) I remember there was a spinning top "Weapon" of some kind in the boot (Trunk!) of it..But I was more into the toy "Futura" Batmobile at the time with the Batblade at the front!

I loved the Green Hornet! Now the theme song is running through my head. Loved his side kick. I really don't remember the series too well. But, remember watching it in my youth.

i like that movie when im still young and admire the heroic job the actor have done, remakes are good since movies of the last decade was more or have some good story line than of today.

My sister was telling me about that book and she wanted me to read it when she gets through with it. I figured they would make a movie.

I loved the Green Hornet when the show was on. It was based on the radio show of the same name. I think part of the reason the show failed is because the actor who played the Hornet first insisted that Kato be played by an Asian & that Bruce Lee be considered a co-star rather than an "also starring." But the show was fabulous!

Well the character of Kato was always supposed to be oriental. Even in the radio series he was first Filipino of Oriental descent and then later changed to Oriental during and after World War II. I did read though that Bruce Lee stated the only reason he got the role over others was because he could say "Britt Reid" correctly.

I rememer the comic books and the tv show. Iw ould like to see green hornet movie come out. The actors would need to be skinny though. The Green Hornet was always long, and lanky. I loved Bruce Lee. Went to all of his movies as they came out. I can't really think of any of todays actors that would be good as the Green Hornet or Kato. Maybe an unknown new actor would be best.

Yeah I think Jet Li could do it. I know the trivia I was reading on the movies said at one time in the 90's they looked at him doing it but who knows for 2009.

I've seen a trailer for this film, it looks like it's going to be fun. It's being released in January - and you'll be able to watch it in 3D! It looks like there'll be a fair amount of humour in there but I get the impression from the trailer that they're respecting the previous versions of the Green Hornet. I'm especially glad to see that they're bringing back the Black Beauty from the 60s TV series. If I was a crime fighter, that's exactly the kind of car I'd have! I've seen a few episodes of the 60s TV series and I also enjoy the original radio version. I also bought the two 40s movie serials on DVD recently, but not had a chance to watch them yet. One thing that appeals to me about the Green Hornet is that he doesn't generally go for the usual superhero tactic of getting into a straight punch up with the bad guys - he uses devious methods to entrap them instead. A few years ago in Bradford (Yorkshire), I saw Van Williams (who played the Green Hornet in the TV series) being interviewed at a one day Bruce Lee convention. He's a really interesting guy, he's done loads of stuff apart from acting, like being a salvage diver, building up his own communications company and acting as a sherriff's deputy for a bit. He even wrote a story for a Green Hornet comic which was based on a case that he worked on when he was a deputy - I'll have to try to track that down one of these days.
