How many of you people had a chance to taste chicken biryani. I am sure atleast all the non-vegetarian Indians must have atleast tasted it once. For those who would like to try it out, I am posting the recipe for it. Ingredients: 4 table spoon vegetable oil 4 small potatoes, boiled and peeled 2 large onions, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger juice 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric 1 teaspoon ground cummin salte to taste 2 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped 2 tablespoons plain yogurt 2 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves 1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom 1 piece cinnamon stick 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken pieces cut into chunks 2 1/2 Tablespoon vegetable oil 1 large onion diced 1 pinch powdered saffron 5 pods cardamom 3 whole cloves 1 piece cinnamon stick 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1pound basmati rice 4 cups chicken stock salt to taste DIRECTIONS: 1. Fry potatoes until brown, in 2 tablespoon oil and then drain. Add remaining 2 tablespoon oil and fry onion, ginger and garlic till onion is light brown. Add chilli, pepper, cummin, turmeric, tomatoes and salt. Fry, stirring constantly for five minutes. Cover and cook on low heat, with intermittant stirring till tomatoes are cooked to a paste. 2. Add chicken pieces to the mixture and stir them to coat with the mixture. Cook over low heat for approx 35-45 minutes. 3. Wash rice and drain in colander for 30 minutes. 4. Heat 2 tablespoon oil and fry onion until they are golden. Add saffron, cardammon, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger and rice. Stir continuously until the rice is covered with the spices. 5. Heat the chicken stock in a medium sized pot. After heating, pour the stock over the rice and stir. Add chicken pieces with mixture and potatoes. Cover the pot tight and allow to cook over low heat. Steaming hot, delicious!!! biryani is ready to serve. Please try it at home and let me know your experience. I am sure you will enjoy the dish.....

I posted it in my recipe folder. I might try it sometime, but it all depends on whether I can get ll the ingredients, the saffron is a bit expensive here. I have not tasted it though but it must be quite spicy. What part of India does it come from? I am very interested in recipes.

Thank you for this recipe!I love Chicken Biryani. I hope I can manage to cook it, but my husband is a very skilled cook, and great at making Indian foods. We have all the spices, even Saffron (which is expensive in the US) so maybe we should try it. Another favorite of mine is Chicken Marsala! YUM!

yes I've tried it before. In my country, it is one of the common foods service in public eating places. I enjoy eating it although it is more expensive than other things on the menu. It usually comes with a huge chicken drumstick which is my favourite part of the chicken. thanks for sharing this recipe! i always find that the rice looks so colourful and appealing.

I love crispy fried chicken! Yum! But I also make a lot of chicken Alfredo, or just fry some boneless skinless chicken for salads, sandwiches. We like it a lot of ways there's also nuggets! We go through a lot of chicken for nuggets!
