Extending Your Life

If you could extend your life, adding 30 or more years by making small changes in your life, would you? I am not sure I want to, because I think I would rather have fun, and eat the wrong stuff, and do whatever I feel like doing. Also, I think the world is getting worse everyday, and I don't know if I want to see the outcome. On the other hand, if I were to live longer, I would be able to see and do more of the things I want to do.

This is an excellent question. However, it is not an easy one to answer. You said little changes. I guess it would depend on what those little changes were and whether my family would be around to share that life with me.

I think life would be even more dull then it already is without the small pleasures. I want to live life well and not be sickly, but I also don't want to live to a great age and possibly outlive all those I care about. I also think the dmage is already done. Even id I were to never have any more chocolate or whatever, it wouldn't undo my joints aching or the teeth already filled or what have you, I would just have to put up with being ricket longer! Tha doesn't sound like a very good idea if it is gong to extend the ricketishness for thirty years!

I enjoy every unhealthy habit I have. I don't want to give anything up. I might try to cut down a little, and exercise a little more, but that's as far as I'll go. Aches and pains I can put up with.

Well, I am not sure. Obviously I am not prepared to give up smoking at this stage, & that would extend my life. It depends what other changes there would be. Sometimes it's not worth giving up activities one enjoys.

Yeah, I would rather have fun, and die happy.

Well, the way I look at it I could give up smoking and eat all the right foods and get hit by a bus tommorow. I believe you have to live life to its fullest because you never know what tommorow will bring. And besides all that, I have to agree with you-Do I really want to see where all this kaos that we call society is going. Thank you and take care!!

If I could extend my life by 30 years I don't think I would. I work for a senior care company and have for about 2 years now. We have a ton of clients that have us there because they have no family in the area and they need someone to help them out and even just for company. The most common thing I hear our oldest clients complain about is that they have no friends left. They have watched all of their friends and usually their spouses die and they are the last ones remaining. I know it's a fact of life but I couldn't imagine living long enough to feel like that.

That is so sad. I've known a lot of older people like this too. Too often they are left alone, with no company, and their families have little time for them. It would be nice to have some kind of community thing for the older folks to get together for companionship and to share mutual intersts. I've visited people in long-term care facilities that are so happy when anyone comes to visit. I love talking to some of them. They've seen and learned so much in their lives.
