Jesus is God. He gave the ultimate sacrifice His life. Yes He could stop the torture, but this is of mans doing. Why blame God when you have pushed Him out of society? Schools will not even invite Him in anymore. Would you go somewhere you were not invited? God is a gentleman He won't force Himself on you and when you know Him you know of His love and it is His love that makes the peace. If the world came to know God then there would be no need for war.

Jesus is a God who came from heaven and went down to earth in human form. He is all-powerful, but due to His obedience/submission to the God the Father and for them to realize the ultimate plan for mankind, His power was somewhat limited. There was an instance in the Bible that He said that He can send angels in a snap just to free Him and stop all those persecutions.
