What Gets Your Heart Racing?

Does your heart start to race when you:
See the person you love
Watch your favourite team win
Go for an interview
Speak in public
Fear something
I have just watched England beat the West Indies in the cricket world cup. They won by 1 run and my heart was racing like a maniac.
So what gets your heart racing?

I was a part time soldier with my 'can't see me suit' on in Rhodesia in the good old days.
There is nothing quite like a situation when you know there is someone there close by wanting to kill you. Your sense of smell and hearing really peak and I swear your heart beat can be heard ten yards away!

When I first arrived in Vietnam in 1971 there were still nightly B-52 bombings. The first one really started my heart racing because I was alone in my hotel room and had no one to ask what was going on...plus I was too scared to go out of my room. The next day they told me that it was "outgoing" and I had nothing to worry about....so the heart pounding disappeared. Of course, my next question was...what does "incoming" sound like (just in case there was a different sound), and they answered....you'll know it when you hear it. Thank God I never did....that would really have sound the ticker pounding for sure.

Wow, that does sound scary. It must have been quite an experience being in Vietnam at that time in history. I was only 4 years old then, so what I know about Vietnam is through history programmes.
I am sure you have many a tale to tell Gifana!
Thanks.

Penalty shoot-outs!
Geez, how many times do we (england) have been throw out by these.
Other than that danger and other general things.

They have to be the worse. I am amazed England football fans don't all have high blood pressure after our recent disasters!
Cheers!!

joey, ask Ricardo Pereirathe goalkeeper of my team (Sporting) and the #1 of the Portuguese National Team. He usually has a field day with the English teams....and he likes to score them as well with the winning goal. Don't mean to rub it in but I do like my goalkeeper.
Cited from Wikipedia: In the quarterfinals of Euro 2004 against England, Ricardo was one of Portugal's heroes in their win on penalties. With the penalty shootout tied 5-5, he first saved the shot of Darius Vassell. After taking his gloves off, he then scored the deciding penalty against England to send Portugal to the semifinals.
Portugal made it to the final but lost against Greece. Portugal only lost the first and last games and they were both against Greece. I add that as a consolation to cheer you up.

Public speaking - I absolutely hate it although I have done quite a lot of it and I force myself to keep doing it. Never get's any easier though.
Worms - oh I hate them sooooo much! I'm just terrified of them. Ridiculous really.
Gambling - another bad habit I have but I love it! I probably do it just to get to the "heart racing" bit.
Watching Scotland play anyone at football - always nerveracking because they're so unpredictable. Sometimes they're ok and other times they're rubbish.
Watching any country beat England at football - that's my heart racing in a good way of course (sorry!)

Wow, your heart does get a work out.
I suppose you will be joining Jimbo and Inked who too like to see England loose.
As I'm from the Robertson clan I will not take offense, otherwise my poor heart would be racing now!!LOL

First and foremost when I look deep into my hubby's beautiful steely blue eyes. My heart also races when I am afraid of being stuck on an elevator....when I ride one and the door is verrrrry slow to open and I believe that I may be stuck! Of course lately I am out of shape so badly that merely walking from the car to the door makes my heart race! Ha!

Well as you know, I'm a huge tennis fan, so I guess a very close and exciting match with a tense final set tie-break would get my heart racing. Also - not so pleasantly - I am terrified of thunderstorms, so anything involving thunder and lightening would get it racing - though not in a nice way!

The only thing that gets my heart racing is when I'm on the treadmill or crosstrainer at the gym! I go five times a week where my heart gets a right old hammering! I am quite addicted to cv and will do about an hour, so that's five hours a week where my heart is doing something like 140bpms! Makes me feel good and my heart nice and healthy too

One thing that always gets my heart racing is when I am in an airplane and it's starts bouncing around....my heart goes into palpatations. In the beginning it would worry me but then I learned to take deep, deep breaths and it would go away. I have been thinking, and that's really a chore for me, and I'll be darned if I can think of anything else at the moment. However, if I ever do think of something, I'll come back. And I bet you'll be holding your breath until I do, won't you. hehehehe +

Thats romantic.
Like Jimbo you do not like to see England win, that makes my heart sink a little. As I am of Scottish and Irish decent I will always cheer them on, unless they are playing England of course!LOL
Cheers.

Wish you all the like stiffler. I can say that because I am sure we both don't play the same lotto. Have to admit though, since I have never been too lucky there is no need for me to get worked up about it. I've always said that the day my ship comes in I will either be at the airport and there will be a dock strike. Have a nice day!+

When I take my daughter out learning to drive in her car - that blimmin makes my heart race! She's a pretty good driver but I'm the worst passenger in the world! The F1 used to make my hear race until Schumi retired last year. I'm sorry but the cricket makes my heart want to curl up and die! Lol each to their own eh?

I used to watch F1 when Damon Hill was racing, now that did get my heart racing!!
I know what you mean about being a passenger, my partner thinks he's part of the flying squad when he drives!
Thanks.
