WOW!! The booze must be kicking in as I get ultra-personal, but I was recently diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Lexapro (10mg). I have been on it for about 3 weeks and it has made a huge difference in my life (I won't bore you all with the details)...anyone else here on it and what are your experiences?

Hi Inked. I am sorry to hear that you suffer depression, but happy that you sought help. So many people walk around miserable because they are too proud to see any type of mental health treatment. Lexapro is a SSRI, a particular type of antidepressant. It is one that has fewer side effects than some of the others. I have known many people who have taken Lexapro (imagine that, a mental health nurse practitioner that knows someone on Lexapro...ha!) and have only seen a handful that were not helped by it. If it has only been 3 weeks, you haven't even reached the peak of its effectiveness yet (4-6 weeks) so you will probably feel even better in a week or so! It is also used to treat those with anxiety disorder so it will also take the edge off any anxiety that you may have. Again, I'm glad that it is working for you.

Thanks....I have only had a couple of mild side effects so far and they don't seem to last for any length of time so pretty happy with that.

Bah that's not that personal. Anybody that gives you crap for discussing something about your life here would be an idiot anyway. I was on it for a little while. It did help the depression to an extent, but that's not even what I was asking to be treated for, plus it had that "duhhhr" effect on me like most antidepressants do. Keep in mind it wasn't nearly as bad as others I've tried. I think if depression is your only problem it will do you a lot of good.
