HUG is a sign of comfort and LOVE. I cant imagine not hugging however... I have an officemate who have the fear of HUGS, yet its a not common and i was surprise to know about it. I want to help him somehow, but i dont know how. He has never engage in relationships bec of this fear. Maybe you have some tips? I believe its hard to live life when you have a FEAR for HUGS.

Sometimes it could just be the fear of being touched. Some people don't appreciate being touched, not because they don't feel love but for some it's just scary for people. I knew a friend who was afraid of hugs, and was considered to be cold, but in truth she just didn't like being touched by people, she had a hard time with relationships. Sometimes therapy helps, and sometimes it dosen't. Just let your officemate be for now, if you're curious you could ask why they fear hugs.

There are many people who do not like to be touched. They do not like to be hugged and they do not like signs of affection in public. Much of this most likely comes from a lack of affection when they were little. That is more the job of a professional to help them with.
