What's with celebrities?

I know, celebrities are a big impact in our society nowadays. The make good actors, excellent artists, and product endorsers and that they give us entertainment and convince us on their performance. But then, behind the camera, they are still the same ordinary people like everybody else. They still do the normal things that every human does. How come, the crowd's eyes are on them on every move they do? What's special among those stars that they shine above the rest? And they are everybody's talk in the town? I know everyone's important but what made them have greater significance?
