This topic brings me back to the life when i was staying in America a few years ago. I still remember quite clearly one day i had a dream. In my dream I wanted to eat leek sauted with eggs. My Mom often cooked this when I was in China. As we know it is not easy for our Chinese peple to buy some vegs like leek. I woke up at night, I still felt there still some remaining taste of leek in my mouth. At that time, I made the decision no matter how hard it was , I would try to buy some leeks. The next day, I drove for 1.5 hours to a Chinese supermarket, and bought 2 pounds of leek at the price of $2.59/ pound. When I went back and cooked as my Mom had done before.Done, so excited I was, Having tasted one mouth of it. So disppionted I was. It did not tast like leek. Lots of vegs and fruits lose their original tastes in America, such as celery, leeks, apples.I wonder if people like us who stay there for a long time will lose our original TASTE? lol...

when i ws in Dubai , i didn't missed food from home because the food served there was very good and tasty. whan i was in London , there too Indian restaurants were there, but i use to miss my taste, the indian taste, like different type of indian curries, Stuffed Paranthas with Potatoes. In America , too, i missed my taste, but in Mexico i never missed anything. all my taste matched , the spices they used were super awesome, chicken was Wow!!!i love mexican food a lot and that was the only place where i never missed my Indian food because there the Indian food which was served by some home made people was also good.

I guess if Im living abroad and there would be no rice, then I would miss rice! ive eaten rice all my life although I also like other alternatives like corn or mashed potato but I would still prefer rice over them.
