the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series will be out in theaters soon. But with the onslaught of angry fans/offended parents and such, do you think Dan Radcliffe will still play Harry Potter on the last two (movies) of the series? Do you think he hurt his image enough when he did that adult play, equus? It would be a shame if he were to be replaced since he has portrayed the role from the beginning, Do you think the bigwigs at Warner Bros, even consider this? And if he is to be replaced, who do you think would be best to replace him, I cannot imagine a Harry Potter other than Daniel Radcliffe, but the possibility is there, don't you think, with all the hoopla that surrounded his adult potrayal

yes, I get your point, I was just wondering since a lot of hoopla surrounded Dan's role in Equus and with Emma Watson, not wanting to do Hermione, it's a thought that Dan might be replaced as Harry

From what I know in showbusiness, any publicity, whether good or bad, is always good publicity. I guess the bigwigs of Harry Potter wouldn't even consider letting Daniel Radcliffe go. More buzz means more money. That's my take on that. In my opinion, I think it would depend on the actor if he would still be interested in portraying the role for the rest of the movie series; but as far as productions go, he's still very much in. I have read from somewhere that he might consider not reprising the role in the future if people would think that he made the character "unwholesome". I'm not very sure which magazine cover I saw that from (here in the US), but then again, I'm sure it would be very far from happening. Happy myLotting!

Hmm... you've got a point there and you're right, I was thinking that Dan Radcliffe would just automatically accept the role and that I really didn't think of the possibility that he might not want to do the role himself.. hmm.. that's some thought to ponder =)

Dan is already contracted to do the rest of the movies so i dont think anyone one else will be playing Harry. And as for his 'adult' role in the play he cant possibly be playing 'Harry' for the rest of his life. Yes he was lucky to get such a huge break at such a young age but when he accepted the play he showed he was serious with his acting career he probaly didnot want to become another "home alone' kid it was a wise and mature choice to break away from 'Harry" image but he will never loose the Harry magic as well b'cos when the next generation of kids watch the movies he will still remain Harry for them but as an actor he would have matured and moved on to bigger and better roles...i wish him all the best in everything he does :)

Yeah, I was really happy when the notice was released, because I wouldn't want anyone else starring the movies... Also: Daniel Radcliffe was confirmed for American Idol's Idols Give Back... wasn't he?

i don't find daniel's change offensive at all. he is a mature individual now. he aged in time just like all of us. a change in career should not hurt us. after all, we all know that celebrities change their image after sometime. daniel will not forever be the kid we used to know. and we should have accepted that fact long ago. if we love harry potter before... we should have loved the thought that one day, he will grow older, too. i don't want daniel replaced. if so, it would no longer be nice and interesting to watch at all. happy myLotting!

yes, i believe this to be true also. I was just wondering, as I said, with the onslaught of 'offended parties' if the bigwigs of warner bros consider replacing him, considering he's been the only Harry Potter we know.

I don't think he hurt his image at all. He did a play for adult audiences to view, so what. I doubt that Warner Brothers will care one way or the other. I remember when Kurt Russell shattered his Disney image, many thought it would hurt his career but it turned out to be just the oppoite. He did a ton of movies and is now working with Disney again. They realized that they were stupid not to use him just because he did an R rated movie. I'm sure Warner Brothers will not be that foolish. They know that to replace him this late into the series would cost them more money. Many would not accept the change and cause them not to see the movies. Many still don't like the one that does Dumbledore and that one they had no choice in replacing. With this they do and they know how much it means to stay consistant other wise they would have let him out of his contract when he wanted it years ago. Add to that unless it was against his contract Danielle Radcliffe could sue them for breaking it. I'm sure that will be in their minds as well.

These people seem to have forgotten that Daniel Radcliffe is an ACTOR and as such he works in film and theatre. Playing a role, acting a part, so what if he took on a very arduous role in Equis, I think he played the role very well. I hope common sense would prevail here and that he will play Harry in the movie

yes I hope so too. Daniel is a good actor and it would be such a shame if he misses out on various roles just because he played Harry Potter

Harry Potter - Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter wont be Harry Potter without Daniel Radcliffe.. Besides, it doesnt matter if he did a more mature role in Equus.. The rest of the Harry Potter movies he'll be doing will be an older Harry Potter.. It's not as if he's still 11 years old..

Daniel started as main character of this movie so I'm thinking that He'll be the most important celebrity that needs to be in this movie until it reaches the last book. :)

daniel radcliffe can't possibly portray kiddie roles for the rest of his career can't he? that's why i don't think that such fuss with regards his adult porttayal. he will still be harry potter. there will be a horde of angry fans if ever he will be replaced.

i still believe that dan will still play harry potter. the adult play just made his name bigger and for that, i don't thing the lot of WB will let him go. after all, the series would not be fulfilled if the the portrayor would be different for the last two films. you see we've seen dan grow up just like harry did in the series and if he's gonna be replaced, the audience will surely make a big question: WHO's THAT? Replacing dan would mean building-up from scratch a new celeb, which would be costly for the producers, right?

i guess you're right. replacing him will be more costly. I didn't think of it that way.

I hope he plays all of them. I don't think it would be the same if it wasn't him playing the part. He has aged just like everyone else does and it shouldn't make a difference what other parts he plays.

I really hope that they don't go so far as to replace him. I hate when they do that on sitcoms and soap operas and such. You go away for a week and they have a new cast and then you spend the entire movie or show trying to remember who is who. I can't imagine anyone being more suited for Harry Potter's role than Daniel Radcliffe. Also, it is somewhat directed at a young audience. I don't think that children would understand at all if they saw someone else playing the part. No, in my opinion, it would be a real shame.

He is maturing now so I dont really know if he will be but it will not be the same if some one else takes over. I think that it will also impact rating for the movie if Radcliffe is no longer Harry Potter.

Yup. For sure!! Harry Potter aged just like Daniel. So why change? Besides there's no other guy who can play Harry Potter better than Daniel. Am i right or am i right?

Well I did hear that The Warner Bros were going to replace Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter in the movie version of the sixth and the seventh books because he is getting older and doesn't quite look like a 16 year old anymore. And people should not be angry because he did an adult play,he is an actor after all not Harry Potter, and he should be free to make his own choices regarding the roles he do.
