The natural nit treatment that works
Thoroughly douse your child's hair with vinegar and leave for 15 minutes to allow the vinegar to kill the lice. Apply white conditioner and comb out the remaining eggs. My own tip I have found that if you use tea tree in your children hair that your children will not have to put up with these nits in the first place. What do you use for your children hair when they develop nits??

Thanks for the advice Kathy - vinegar may be an idea to try - I have heard about tea tree before but as my kids have both had allergies - one to a natural nit treatment I have always been wary of using it! At least once a week we condition the kids hair and go through it with a nit comb - nits lose their grip due to the conditioner and we are not putting chemicals on the kids heads! We have a special nit comb from a company called Nitty Gritty - it is the best £12 we ever spent - it removes eggs as well as nits! xx

Heya Kathy, I have had alot of experience with nits in the years as I myself have very thick long dark hair.
I agree with you that vinegar and conditioner are a good way to get rid of them but have found that it needs to be done every day for quite along time. It still ends up being cheaper than the products you buy at pharmacies however.
Thankfully for me my daughter has white blond thin hair and she hasn't picked up lice yet.
And your totally right that adding a little tea tree oil to your shampoo and using regularly will act as a deterrent for nits making it very unlikely you'll get then in the first place.
Tanika.

we've only faced lice once - and it was an awful infestation. It occured after spending the night in an ICU waiting room. our daughter contracted them.
I learned like you that vinegar is great for removing the nits. It actually disolves the "cement" that holds the nit to the hair shaft so it can be combed out, readily. I did not know that it was also supposed to kill the lice. For the lice we did the mayonaise treatments and always kept her head covered so as to not spread the buggies to other members of the family.
