hello there. I want to lose some lbs and i heard that south beach diet is a good way. I inquire to the restaurants offering south beach diet foods but they are quite expensive. I tried to browse over the net but the menus are hard to prepare and the ingredients are hard to find. Can anyone help me with this?

I have also had great luck with the South Beach diet. Here are some snacks and recipes that I have had great luck with... Snacks: Nuts...almost any type. I really like Almonds Peanut butter on celery. I get a low carb peanutbutter for this. Cream Cheese on celery String cheese Hard Boiled Eggs V8 juice Cucumber with salad dressing dip Meals: Beef, Pepper, and Mushroom Kabobs Submitted by: The South Beach Diet Online INGREDIENTS: 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 1 tablespoon water 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 pound boneless top sirloin steak, cut into 1" squares 1 large red bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces 12 large mushrooms 2 cups cooked brown rice 1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted DIRECTIONS: 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, oil, water, mustard, oregano, and black pepper. Add the steak, bell pepper, and mushrooms, tossing to coat. Alternately thread the steak, bell pepper, and mushrooms on each of 4 metal skewers. Set aside. 2. Prepare the rice according to package directions. Keep warm. Meanwhile, place the kabobs on a grill over medium coals. Grill uncovered, turning occasionally for 8 to 11 minutes or until a meat thermometer measures 145 degrees F (for medium-rare). 3. Mix the toasted pine nuts into the rice. Serve the kabobs over the rice mixture, allowing 1/2 cup rice per serving. This next recipe is especially awesome...they are great for any meal or a snack! Plus you can change the veggeis included or add some meat. I like adding sauage to mine. Veggie Quiche Cups From Wendy Bumgardne INGREDIENTS: 3/4 cup liquid egg substitute or 3 large eggs or 3 /4 cup egg whites 1 package frozen chopped spinach (10 oz.) 3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheese 1/4 cup diced red or green peppers or mixture of both 1/4 cup diced onions PREPARATION: Makes 12 mini-quiches Need: Foil baking cups, muffin tin, cooking spray, oven 1. Heat oven to 350F 2. Line 12 cup muffin pan with foil baking cups, spray the cups with the cooking spray. 3.Thaw and drain spinach - I wring it out well in my hand, which eliminates a lot of the "spinachy" taste for those who hate boiled spinach. 4. Mix the spinach, egg substitute, cheese, peppers, onions, hot pepper sauce, salt in a bowl. 5. Fill the foil cups with the mixture. 6. Bake at 350F or 20 minutes, testing so that a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. 7. Remove from cups to serve.
