Do you believe in demonic possession?

The reason I post this question is because I used to work with a girl who would readily tell people that her uncle was an exorcist back in her hometown of Chiuaua, Mexico. It's been a number of years since hearing one of her tales, so some of the specifics are hazy, but I do remember her describing some manner of wooden chair that he used to strap people in and do what he did best.
Do you believe in demonic possession? Have you ever known anyone who has suffered from it? Please, I welcome your weirdest stories!

I know just what you mean, AndiCat! I was raised Catholic and even attended Catholic school. When I saw The Exorcist it scared the living daylights out of me (perhaps because I was only four years old) because I learned and, at the time, believed that it could really happen. I lived in constant fear of waking up to a shaking bed and uncontrollable bouts of vomiting.

Hmm... I don't know about this one. I'm not sure about the idea of "demons" in general, but I definitely believe in positive and negative energy, and thus spirits that possess or use either type of energy.
I have seen people who seemed to be "haunted" by a spirit that meant them harm. In my experience, and from what I learned of the "occult" that usually happened to people who dabbled when they didn't know what they were doing, or people who were just constantly negative in their own life, that their own negative energy drew those types of beings to them.
I knew an old Native American man (I call him Grandfather because I lived with him and his grandchildren for a little while, but he's really a cousin of my great-grandfather's) who often did "cleansings" in which he would cast negatively energy away from a person. But he always said it in that way "energies", not demons. So whether that would be the same thing or not I'm not sure.

Thank you for the thorough answer, lecanis! Tha's always appreciated.
I tend to believe similarly, in that people who dabble in the so-called dark arts are simply evoking their own dark energy, allowing it to "change" them. While I believe in the paranormal, I don't know if I believe, wholeheartedly, in demonic possession. It seems, more often than not, a way of explaining something otherwise unexplainable, an easy way out, if you will.

i believe in demonic possessions because i've witnessed them countless of times in my whole life _ people who are normally possessed arent aware of what's happening to them and normally have super human strength and most of the time their voices change and sometimes the face too :( its really creepy. and the common factor ive noticed why people are being possessed by an entity is because they're problematic and prone to stress _
my friend was always a target for possesion :/ it wasnt a fun thing for him, after each incident he ends up tired and worn out and doesnt remember a single thing o.o;
