Have you read (or heard of) Clive Barker's Abarat?

Abarat by Clive Barker - This is the first book of Abarat by none other than the master of fantasy/horror himself, Clive Barker

I've been a fan of Clive Barker for the past twenty years. To me, his brand of fantasy/horror is without equal. And I've always admired the fact that he even goes so far as to illustrated some of his stories. Having read Abarat and Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War, I'm eagerly anticipating the sequel. It's been a while now, since the second book was published. The third must be coming soon, at least I hope it does! On a side note, Disney bought the rights to the movies, so that's something else to look forward to. I can't wait to see what they do with Barker's vision! Have any of you read this series? I'd love to meet some fellow fans.

Oh my gosh yes This is where i started off reading Clive Barker. My MIL gave me the first book to read and I was hooked and then she bought me the second. Its a great series. One I normally wouldn't like, but something about it just pulls me in. Love it!

Hello, again! Being that you read Coldheart Canyon, I was wondering if you had read Abarat. I'm glad to see that you enjoyed it. I just hope Mr. Barker releases the third book--it's been too long now! As much as I love his work, he tends to leave certain stories hanging. Everville, for example, was left wide open with the promise of a sequel, but now, it's been so long, I'm not sure he'll ever go back to it.

I've only read the Abarat series and Coldheart Canyon thus from him. I have another one of his to read too, but so far that is far as I have gotten. So far I have loved all three books I have read of is and I consider myself a fan. lol

I'd suggest his Books of Blood, but most of that is quite horrific. The funny thing about Barker is that he started off strictly horror but has evolved into fantasy--a very dark fantasy.
