Are you aware of Christian persecution today?

There are many ministers in other countries who are arrested and imprisoned for their Christian beliefs. What we take for granted and many toss aside as irrelevant or "not important in this day and age", is taken very seriously in other countries. You can read about some persecuted Christians here. Sometimes I find it hard to read and even harder to believe it happens. http://www.prisoneralert.com/pprofiles/vp_prisoner_171_profile.html

This is sad. At least here in America we have the freedom to worship God or whatever religion we want to worship.

this is sad to hear and suddenly, the bitter memories i have studied during the world war 2 is running through my mind. I can't imagine why they are doing this. is this leading to the same holocaust in Auschwitz Concentration Camp? I hope not. I dont find any rationale behind these religious killings. why dont they get a life of their own. As the saying goes, LIVE AND LET LIVE.

You can say that again! I'll never getg why people have to act like animals against people who just happen to be a bit different than they are. We're all made of the same things, we all cry, love, bleed, feel, think..we should treat eachother all with respect. And let us all mind our own businesses.

I was completely unaware that that happened. It is sad when someone can't worship and follow their religion. I'm very thankful that I live in a country where I have that freedom.

Here is a link to Voice of the Martyrs, a non-profit, non-denominational group that keeps track of all of this. http://www.persecution.com/

I groan when most christians say it 'cause in my experience, alot of people make it out like it's happening everywhere. Ans like they're the only ones being persecuted in certain places, if they admit that there's other people of different religions being perscuted at all. Most of them don't though. Which it's not worldwide..mostly just the few countries in which its not accepted or opposes some leader's idea of how his country should be..somehow. Here's some cold hard facts: people of virtually all religions are being persecuted somewhere. You just have to dig deep enough to find them all. Now..I hate senseless violance..I hate discrimination against people, regardless any religious affiliation. I just don't think any one group is anymore important than the other..this does not mean I hate anyone, that I ignore what's happening..that I'm not well informed..or that I'm belittling them. I just believeiun being both fair and realistic is all.

it seems christians are not counted for much these days we can read or hear on thenews when any other religions are persecuted but they hardly ever mention this !however we were told by Christ himself we would be persecuted in his name ! (Jn.15:18,20,21,24,25 18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 20 Remember the words I spoke to you: `No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me.

No, we don't hear about it because..why? Media doesn't find it profittable. It's more profittable to talk about the persecution of muslims OR gay people. Has been since basically the turn of the century. You hardly hear about a wiccan girl tortured by a fanatical christian group on the news..or..a buddhist burned alive in his house..you do not hear about every other religion. You have to remember, media's all about money..the hot topics, what's profittable. Not what matters. Christianity's bit of pesecution in countries which typically aren't even on our daily thoughts? Not a hot topic. Not a money-maker. Doesn't make it right..that the media doesn't care about any religion's members being persecuted. But just 'cause I'm pagan and people from my religion do have to be careful occasionally because sometimes WE'RE persecuted..that doesn 't mean I'll play the persecution card. No offense, hun. I respect your beliefs. But these are the facts

I am aware of it, but I don't think about it whenever I think of the troubles other country's are going through. It's a shame that people aren't free in some places to follow their beliefs, I'm so glad that I live in a country where I don't have to worry about getting punished for things like that.

It is sad when any group of people is persecuted for their beliefs, and it is really surprising how much of it still goes on these days.

Kinda am. I feel bad for those and us in the USA dont know how good we got it. Most countries its a matter of being willing to die for belief. Some people like to claim that Christians arent the worst off for persecution. TOTALLY WRONG! They are persecutted more than any others as you now pointed out. God bless those who are and prayers for all! :(

Now, I don't want to give the impression that I'm saying that the persecution of Christians isn't bad, because it is bad. But I'd like to point out that there are places in the world where other religions are systematically wiped out in mass genocide- not to mention all the ethnic cleansing that goes on in the world. And let's not forget that in the United States, people who are from certain religions, i.e. Muslim, have endured a great deal of persecution and sometimes even been beaten and killed- and this country is supposed to accept all religions. But we Christians don't typically spend much time crying over or even praying for these people. We don't really even know about it, because it's easy to just turn the other way. Yet when fellow Christians are killed for their beliefs, we get all riled up and talk about what a horrible thing it is. It's horrible when ANYBODY gets killed for what they believe, or for their skin color, or for their gender, or for any other reason why people are killed because of hate. Let's not forget that.

Yes it is happening even today. I did a small study on this area a while back. I have some links on one of my discussions of Christian persecutions. Jesus was right when he said we shall be hated for His names sake. They hated Jesus back then and still do. It is a shame - look at what all Jesus done for us and people hate Him. Just don't make since.

Thank you, Estherlou, for the information regarding the persecutions of Christians around the world. Even though we are not persecuted as much in this nation we are still persecuted. We must watch and pray and be wise as serpents and kind as doves. I pray and ask Father God to give these prisoners the strength to go through what they have to go through in Jesus name. And also for the protection and encouragement and needs of their families and loved ones.

yes, I am absolutely aware of modern day persecutions occuring in various parts of the world, I experience it myself on a small scale right here in the "good ol USA" I expect it will get a lot worse in the years to come before it will get better. Have you noticed that things are becoming all black or all white with very little grey areas in between?

It is sad thing that religions have opened themselves to this sort of thing. I become pained when there is strife that makes the news about the married ministers and the children being molested etc. If they performed up to the standards that they speak then this could be not such an issue. I am not sure I would use the word persecution since the Muslims have been withdstanding some hard times due to the terrorist faction in their midst. This world is changing and not always for the better however it remains to be seen what it is like in the end. Good luck to you and yours and hope you achieve understanding.

I very much am. I fully believe that it's our responsibility as Christians to pray for our brothers and sisters in foreign lands, and also for the missionaries God has sent to dangerous parts of the world. A great book to check out some time is "Jesus Freaks". It chronicles the lives of men and women who have put their earthly life on the line for their faith, starting with Stephen and going all the way up to some present day Christians. Fascinating reading, but not for the weak of heart. You can also check out the website for info on various countries that currently persecute Christians for their faith. http://www.jesusfreaks.net/index2.htm

I think now most muslim that persecution today. I said like that because if you see the condition and scenery on muslim country like Palestine, so sad because of war. Now we can see back the war between muslim and cristian for a long time at there. We can see that they all want the Baitulmaqdis that the place of muslim not for cristian. I don't understand what they want??? I don't aware cristian persecution today but Islam persecution by Cristian. We should stop all about this and live in peacefull.

I have read some of the articles. It is realy pitiful that people are being persecuted in the name of their faith. In India a few ywars back an Australian missionary Rev. Graham Smith and his two sons were brutually murdered by Hindu fanatics alleging he had conducted conversion. In other incidents nuns were raped and priests beaten up. Intollerance prevail among a section of the majority religion in this country. I think all are aware of the massacre of Muslims performed in the state of Gujrat in India. As far as Christianity is concirned we face the persecution from the rulers from the beginning. Jesus himself has cautioned about these persecutions. But inspite of all these hazards the word of God will reach every man in this world and that is the promise given by the Lord Jesus Christ.
