How Do You Handle Your Holidays and Breaks?

Do you make plans and book your holiday in or do you like to just get up and go when you feel the need, like me. I can't plan my holidays and wait for them to come. I would rather just pack a bag and go wherever and whenever I wanted to go. I suppose that's the gypsy in me, but I love exploring the UK and I love to go off at the drop of a hat.
Do you have holidays arranged for this year? Will you be travelling abroad, or holidaying in your own country? How do you handle holidays and breaks?

The only holidays we have are planned - as far as the destination goes, anyway, but not what we do when we get there. That is as we feel for the day.
All our holidays now are to visit our family. In fact I suppose they always have been. Our trips to England were primarily to visit my brother and other relatives. Since then all holidays have been to visit one of our five sons and their families.
Apart from visiting our sons, we don't bother with holidays, but we could say our whole life is one big holiday. I have numerous "away" trips throughout the year, but these are to conduct children's camps or holiday clubs or to train leaders or to present workshops at conferences, exhibitions etc, and these are so enjoyable that I consider them to be holidays even though they are full-on and non-stop action.
Now, my next real holiday will take a bit of planning. That will involve booking flights in advance and making preparations for a garden party - and trying to make sure the dates are suitable for everyone else!

Oh my, but that would be neat, Gabs. I'll bet the place has changed quite a bit since I was there!
Ok... I'm gonna take you at your word here, if I haven't moved far away and started my new life by then. he he.
Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings.

Awwwwww, that's a shame. I keep saying I'm going to go back to Germany. I never did get to the Rhine Valley and I would so love to see the castles.
Ho hum... I don't know whether that will ever happen.
Thank you for your response, my dear friend... love and hugggggs.

I really don't do a lot of travelling. I like to enjoy my holidays just lazing around or enjoying with my frineds or girlfriend. I, when it comes to travelling, am much like you. I don't like arranging or planning my holidays in advance. If I feel like going somewhere and I have my frineds ready for it or even my family I just pack my bahs and leave. I just can't sit and plan.
Anyways Take Care
May GOD Bless YOU

Yes, those spur of the moment breaks are great. Someone mentions they'd like to go somewhere and you say "Why not... we'll go tomorrow". I love that! I am still discovering things in my own country... I love the history of England and tend to visit a lot of historical, megalithic and neolithic places. I like to go whenever I fancy and stay as long as I feel like staying. Sometimes, I go with others and sometimes alone. It doesn't matter to me as long as I have my space and freedom to do what I want to do, then I'm ok.
Thank you for your response Raphael, and Brightest Blessings.

What's a holiday? Lol I'm sooo in need of one at the moment, and had planned to go to Egypt last March time, but got so busy with work I couldn't go (self-employed got to take it when it's there!) So looks like it might be later in the year now as want to avoid the really hot season. I do go away for lots of mini weekends away, I'm off to see my friend in Barnstaple this weekend, it's only 50 miles away but it's a different area and different shopping centres lol! If I'm going for a weekend then I pack 10 mins before I'm going and inevitably forget something, usually toothbrush or hairbrush or even deodrant! If i'm going further afield I'll pack in advance, when I went off to America I packed about 3 weeks prior to going! Only because I didn't want to forget anything!

I like Barnstaple. The market is great... I've been there a few times myself. I'm well into the West Country. :-)
Bizzie, I thought you were going to Tintagel sometime this year. Was it June?
Whatever, this is classed as a break, my friend, which you sound sorely in need of. Will you be celebrating your Beltane in Barnstaple? I can't wait for that! :-)
Thank you for your response my friend, and Brightest Blessings.

In the US we call them Vacations. I only know about "holidays" from my Aussie friends. Holidays are things like Christmas, easter, Thanksgiving. etc... Anyways we take our vacations when we can. Usually its in the summer because when they boys were little they had school most of the year. Plus warm weather is much better than cooler weather. At least for me it is. We don really plan much. We just go when the mod strikes and take a few days off to travel or something.
I hope your day has been a wonderful one full of merriment and laughter. I know it was a special day for you.

Yes, I know you call them vacations, but I can't get into using the word, as I always used holidays. Here, we call days off by their name, i.e. Bank Holiday, Easter, Christmas etc. So, that cleared up, lol, you're a bit like me. I like to just get up and go... well, maybe the following day. lol. I love to explore my own country, but if I occasionally want to travel abroad, I have to plan it.
I had a great day today, thank you. I spent some time outdoors... made a daisy chain and hung it on the lilac tree at the bottom of the garden lol. I really enjoyed myself. :-)
Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings, my friend.

i think it would depend on a number of reasons, including the place where you want to go and when. if it's peak season, you should have booked earlier.
i like both planned and spur of the moment vacations, as long as you're with people you are comfortable with :)

Yes, I guess you're right. If holidaying in the peak season then you would have to book early, but I try to avoid peak season. I prefer to go out of season, and enjoy things without having to queue and fight for a place everywhere. :-) I like my freedom and peace and quiet.
Thank you for your response, Chesssy and Happy Holidays!
