i don't know if it would make the life span shorter. but try advantage or frontline. they both work really well to keep the fleas from coming back. you just put it on your dog once a month. you can get it from your vet or their are websites online you can buy it from.

Well, if the dog has a lot of fleas, it can sap his energy. It would be like going around all the time with a slowly bleeding wound; that can't be good, right? Also, fleas can carry disease from other animals and also can transfer worms and earmites, apparently. So, I would say, that fleas will definately make a dogs life more full of suffering, if not shorter as well. I use FrontLine Plus on my dog and it works very well.

Fleas are very bad for your dog. They can, and will, kill a dog. Not to mention it is miserable to live with fleas. You should put some Advantage or Advantix on your dog. You definately don't want fleas in your home either.

I guess yes, once a dog is infested by a fleas, there's a tendency that it will shorten it's life span due to infections that may occur with this infestation.

The flea infestation can most definitely shorten the life of your dog. Fleas are carry all kinds of diseases and parasites that can make your dog very sick and even die. It is important to find a method of keeping fleas away from your dog by either using a flea collar or taking a monthly pill to prevent flea eggs from hatching. FLEAS AND TICKS can attack even the cleanest pet in the cleanest of homes. They can transmit internal parasites, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis and other diseases that can be fatal, some even being a human health hazard. There are pills that can prevent fleas (and possibly ticks) that can be given once a month, special tick repellent collars, sprays and new topicals that your veterinarian would be happy to tell you about. Treatment of the home and yard is also necessary in most cases. ((Fleas)) ((Ticks))
