I just heard from a friend that he is studying and learning Nihongo. I asked him why? He told me he just want to understand the language, because of the Japanese anime movies he is watching. He is tired reading the subtitles below the movies and he decided its better to learn it. It's funny but its true. We also have Spanish language as part of our schooling because of our country relationship with our former country colonizer, Spain. Another popular language people are learning are Koreans and Chinese, because of possibly working on those countries. English is our second language because of it's international use. I guess there will be more demand for learning other languages if there is a need for it. Are there other reason to learn different language aside from you need it to communicate?

Studying other languages or dialects would be beneficial in interacting with other people. This may also be very helpful in your future endeavors like when settling down in other countries or looking for other jobs abroad. Apart from the added knowledge, interpersonal skills are also developed.

Normally we learn other language because we want to communicate.... cannot think any other resons... I learnt Nihongo at school , 10 years ago.. but forgot the most of it. But when i started become the fan of anime, i start to learn again.. it took me a while because 10 years is a very long time. And i also learn mandarin.. but not formally.. just learn from day to day experience.

My motivation to learn another language is so that I could communicate in it. Me personally I think that it would look god on a resume if you put down you know another language. Especially when you are going into a career where you have the possiblity of communicating with people of other backgrounds and laguages. Well, that is my motivation.

I learned Spanish because of my job. I work with a lot of people who don't speak my native language and besides the fact I needed to communicate with them to function well in my position,I just plain love to talk with people.lol

I will be honest with you, my motivation to learn a second language was that I needed a foreign lanuage to graduate from college! I bounced through a few languages and couldn't stand it, I think i'm tone Deaf. Anyway, I ended up in a sign lanuage class which is now my foreign language and i'm thinking about advancing to higher level classes beyond my requirements because I love it. Plus, there are a lot of advantages to being bi-lingual.

From knowledge point of view, learning other language enriches us. I can understand what was unknown to me earlier. And a new world opens up to me. This is a great satisfaction which can not be obtained easily. From money point of view, there are a great demand for translators who can translate thing from one language to another in good way. And the payment is really good. Moreover, for studies in many countries require knowledge of their local language. Happy mylotting.
