First I wanted to know if there was anyone at mylot who writes poetry? I have been writing poetry for 20 + years. I'm the founder of Today's Writing community http://www.todays-woman.net, which is an online writing community for men and women over 18. You are more than welcome to join. So what kind of writing do you do?

I am a frustrated writer of poetry, short stories and novels. Lately it seems that life is getting in the way of me doing any writing anymore. I attend my writing group diligently because it seems to be the only time I do get any writing done. I journal when I can. My goal right now is to finish editing my novel and I'm having trouble finding time for that. I did write something today - a list of every single thing that has to be done this week! I don't like to post my work online because when I submit to magazines or contests they have to be "previously unpublished work". I have had a few poems published on Circadian Poems. They were my best poems and then I couldn't use them for contests when the time came up. I will check out your website though.

Our community is a closed community meaning that one has to join before you can view the poetry or stories in our database. Most magazines considered our community to be more a workshop so they consider it a workshop item. I know what you mean about life getting in the way. I admin two communities now and it feels like I never have to write. I know that I need to take time and just write. I try to blog every day though.

I write articles for Helium and Associated Content. The writing I do is from past experience and are reality based. I enjoy writing as a form of art and as a therapeutic tool. It is very satisfying.

Naty, I would love to read some of your articles. Do you write any for free?

I try to write as often as I can. I too find it to be very therapeutic. It's a good way to let out some frustrations and worries from the day. Writing and playing my musical instruments are the two therapeutic tools in my life.

i used to write poetry when i was younger. its a shame that i lost those poems that i've written in my notbook. i want to regain what i have lost. my love for writing. this is the reason why i'm addicted with mylot. i'm not a great writer but i would love to write poems again. i just told a friend that there is something missing in my life. a self fulfillment kind of thing. the job does not do it anymore, family is in a different level. maybe writing poem is that thing i've been missing all this years. something that i could say that is "me". i'll check out your site. could i join even if i don't have any materials?

Sure, maybe you might like to try your hand at writing poetry again and our community will help you do just that. As long as you take part in the forums or comment on the poems posted, I see no problem in your joining.

I dabble in poetry - nothing serious. I had a poem published once in a little tiny publication, but that's it. My writing now focuses on either journal writing for myself (I write in many kinds of journals), or in freelance writing for businesses. I started my business a year ago and intend to quit my full time job by this Fall to focus on my writing business. It's always been my dream, to write, and I'm trying to follow that passion!
