I have just read an article on www.news.com.au that states that "A 17yo schoolgirl slaughtered two kittens in preparation for the cold-blooded and premeditated murder of her friend. In what has been described as a callous and vicious attack on 15-year-old Eliza Jane Davis, her two "friends" strangled her with a piece of speaker wire while holding a chemical-soaked cloth over her mouth. The 17-year-old girls have pleaded guilty to wilfully murdering Eliza, the day after they were all pictured dancing together at a party in Collie, a mining town 200km south of Perth." What do you think people like this are thinking when they premeditate doing something like this as there is apparently no motive for the murder? This is supposedly a small country town in Western Australia.

That is certainly true. It all seems so senseless though doesn't it?

I think a lot of it is attributed to the things that kids now see on television and what they see in video games, MTV videos, etc. Kids now adays do things that 20 years ago, kids would never have thought about doing. The other problem is that the government has taken away all forms of punishment. 20 years ago, parents and educators could spank the kids in their care and kids knew that the punishment would be hard on them. How hard is it to be grounded or in time out. Kids don't see juvenile as any thing other than a place away from their parents with other kids. Some of them almost think it is cool!

I agree with you that the punishments for children don't seem harsh enough. If they are old enough to murder someone in cold blood, they should be doing a similar sentence to an adult...

How sad, I haven't read the article, but then there are a lot of things that are happening in our world that doesn't even get to the media. I feel for all families involved as there will never be a straight answer to why?. And because she is underaged, she will probally be treated lightly. Not good. will have to look for the article & follow it. thanks missy

Wow. I keep hearing more and more stories like this on the news and such. It's heartbreaking because they are just kids, and yet the level of violence and cruelty they can behold is just astonishing. It scares me for my own daughter's future because she's got a friend whose completely unstable on this kind of level, and the more we tell her to stay away from this girl, the more she wants to hang out with her. What can parents do to protect their children in this day and age when the monsters are other children?

It's worrying that these things happen so often - it seems that in lots of cases with two killers they talk each other into it. When they get interviewed by police afterwards thay usually think it was the other one that wanted to do the killing and that they just went along with it.

I agree this does seem to be the case a lot of the time. Maybe they wouldn't actually do it if they were on their own. Thanks for your response.

wow. are you sure about that news? gosh.. how can one be so cruel? and what's wrong with her? i think this must be due to mental problems.. it occurs in every country.. and not just western Australia.. i think people nowadays just don't know how to handle stress and depression.. could jealousy be the motive of murder? erm.. sounds quite close to it.. and i think there's no mistake in it.. it should be true... why shs slaughtered 2 kittens for such preparation? what kind of preparation is that? devil disciples? erm.. just pray hard it won't happen anymore.. though we know the fact it will =

It's quite a good source that the news came from so I think it is true. It is awful to think that girls of this age can do something like this though.

Sometimes it seems like people have little to no respect for human life. Its really sad to see and hear of such inhumanity and insanity, yet we are inundated with it no wonder depression is such a huge problem. i think the bottom line is love remember that song "what the world needs now is love, sweet love, its the only thing that there's just too little of"
