A professor at a Boston College was fired for reportlly telling his students that if they found themselves in a Virgina Tech shooting situtation to fight back. To make his point he pointed a pointer at the class and said bang. Many security experts are now recommending that shcools teach students to fight back. The experts say that students could throw text books or anything at the gunman and try to over power him/her. Do you think this is a good idea to teach people to defend themselves?

The prof was right. If you find yourself in this situation, you should not be a like a lamb to the slaughter. I remember reading something about a teacher who was attacked by an ex-husband. Her students jumped in and saved her life. Wish I could remember the details. And there was just a little girl in Long Island, 7 or 8 years old, where a guy kidnapped her, then let her go, she screamed and fought back.

My father worked in a Bank and at a securty seminar they were told that many bank roberys were foiled because the telle did something unexpected. One lady just put up the closed sign while another teller when handed a note demanding all the money. The teller replyed to go to the loan department. Most crimials think their plan will go exactly as they plan it and are not ready to make changes when they are challenged.
